I apparate alongside her to Lestrange Manor. The very place I never wanted to see again. She charms my trunk into my bedroom.

“I’ll leave you to change your clothes.” She says.

Once she leaves, I pull the piece of paper Hermione threw at me out of my pocket. Sitting down at my desk, I smooth it out and read what she wrote:

‘You didn’t tell me Bellatrix Lestrange was your aunt when you asked me about her on the train. Why’d you ask about her?’

Why? I give an unpleasant growl. I wanted to know if Hermione knew who I was. Well, now she does. She knows because of my stupid little anger fit. Then I remember that I’m supposed to get changed. I get out of my robes, and swap them for simple black pants, a gray shirt, and a black jacket. I walk into the kitchen and sit down.

I begin to eat when she asks me, “How is school?”

I didn’t expect her to ask me about school. I swallow and then answer, “Not bad.”

“Who was that girl I saw you with?”

I should’ve known she was going to ask me this.

“She’s a friend in my house. She’s in my year as well.”

“What is she?”

“Um…..a human.”

“Don’t get smart with me. I mean blood type.”

“Oh.” I say, “She’s a, um… a”

“Yes?”

“She’s an American pure blood.”

“What’s her name?”

Name? Should I tell her Hermione’s real name? Or should I make up a false name?

“Hermione Granger.

I decide using Hermione’s real name is safe because I said she was from America.

“And does she believe in blood purity?”

“Oh yes.” I lie, “She only talks with people like us pure blood.”

“I see. It sounds like she should’ve been in Slytherin, just like you should’ve been.”

I draw a shaky breath. I hope she’s not going to bring that up. Then she waves her wand and the empty plates disappear.

“Well, go off to bed now. You must be tired.”

I nod. I leave the kitchen, go to my room, and lay on my bed looking at the words painted on my wall: Toujours Pur.
