The rest of the school year flew by. Some crazy things have happened, like Harry almost died at the hands of Quintin Quirrell, our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. And Slytherin was going to win the house cup, but Dumbledore awarded some last minute points and Gryffindor won.

Now we’re on The Hogwarts Express, heading home. We all take off our robes and pull on muggle clothing. We are all so busy talking and laughing, that at first, we don’t notice we’re at King Cross station. Once we do, we grab our trunks and head off. We walk through the barrier separating Platform 9 ¾ from the muggle world. I see her. She doesn’t look too happy when she sees the kind of people I’m with.

Hermione notices this. She touches my shoulder and says, “Don’t worry, we’ll write. And try a different approach to her. Like I told you.”

I nod and smile, “Thanks I will. And write often. I need someone else to talk to and something else to talk about.”

I hesitate, then lead forward, wrap my arms around her and pull her into a hug. Hermione hugs me back. I let go, wave goodbye, and walk over to her.

I smile and say, “Hi. I’m ready to go whenever you are,”

She gives me a look and asks, “Are you feeling ok?”

“Oh yes.” I reply, “Can we go?”

She nods and we walk away. When we reach a place where the muggles can’t see us, she apparates us to her house. As we walk up the steps, I glance at her face. She still looks the same as always, still wearing that same disdainful look.

I don’t care though. With all the friends and memories I made, this summer might not be so bad.
