When I came to, I heard an assortment of voices calling my name. My eyes fluttered open and shut as my ears twitched at the noise.
"Ayden!" I heard a familiar male voice shout
My eyes snapped open and I saw none other than a very worried Ao'nung leaning over me. His hands holding my face. His eyes were filled with so much worry and relief it almost broke me again.
"Oh thank you, thank you great mother" He whispered, putting his head in my neck
I blinked twice, disoriented, confused on where I was until I heard the voices of my siblings.
"They're awake!" Lo'ak exclaimed from the right side of my bed
"Ayden's ok!" Tuk exclaimed, as she held Kiri's hand who smiled in relief
"Bro take it easy on them" Neteyam said as he put a hand on Lo'ak's shoulder
"What- what happened?-" I rasped
Ao'nung's head immediately shot up from my neck as he held my face in his hands again.
"You were unconscious in the forest covered in blood! I thought you were dead! What happened to you?!" He asked, his eyes glossing over slightly
Then it hit me. Everything that had happened, the yelling, the cuts, the crying, Jake, Ronal, and the blood. I didn't answer Ao'nung but instead sat up slowly. I hissed in pain as my arms started to burn.
"Take it easy my granchild" An older woman's voice rang out
I looked over to see Mo'at, standing behind Kiri in the doorway.
"Grandma!" I exclaimed
She smiled and walked over as Ao'nung backed up but held my hand. Mo'at sat on my beside, putting a comforting hand on my chest as she looked me in the eyes.
"My dear grandchild, Eywa has told me a great deal about you. Including what happened with your parents and your mate" She said, looking at Ao'nung who laced his fingers with mine
I propped up against my pillow as my siblings all gathered on the right side of the bed. They all looked at me with concern in their eyes. I looked to Mo'at who nodded and finally turned to Ao'nung who's full attention was solely on me.
"Eywa- Eywa chose me for something and gave me a gift that I'm not sure of yet. It's why my hair is a light blue, and why my skin is lighter than all of yours." I said
Ao'nung and my siblings stared at me with wide eyes before Mo'at spoke again.
"Yes. And Ayden is not only the next Tsahìk, but they are also conceived from Eywa. One of the few natural born children she has left."
It was my turn to be in shock. Everyone stared at me as I swallowed.
"So- Eywa- is my actual birth mother? But that doesn't make sense- the only thing I inherited from her was the gift. That still doesn't explain my eyebrows, green eyes, five fingers, and toes" I said with confusion
Mo'at just smiled and pat my chest. Ao'nung gripping my hand as my siblings looked absolutely stunned.
"You will have answers to your questions later child. But for now you need to rest." She said gently
I nodded, she and my siblings starting to leave. Ao'nung got up as well but I quickly pulled his hand back.
"Stay, please" I asked him
Ao'nung looked at Mo'at who nodded before she left, ushering my siblings out and closing the door behind her. He then got into the bed with me. Wrapping his arms around my chest being very careful to avoid the bandaged cuts on my arms and stomach. He started tracing his fingers along my body patterns as I rubbed his head slowly.
"Will you- tell me what happened?" Ao'nung asked
I looked at him for a few moments until biting my lip before taking a deep breath as everything started to spill out.
"I cut myself on purpose. I'm sorry I didn't really know what I was doing but I can't be good enough for anybody. I don't deserve to be your mate, this is all my fault. I'm not even a true Na'vi I'm so sorry Ao'nung I-"
I got cut off by Ao'nung kissing me. His arms wrapping around me as I melted into it. When we broke apart, Ao'nung stared straight into my eyes. Holding the same intensity in them from the night he had confessed.
"Don't ok. Don't you dare. You are good enough for me, you always are. None of this is your fault and let me tell you, nobody else on pandora will ever be more deserving of being my mate than you. You are the truest Na'vi out of all of us. Because you are stronger than any of us could ever be."
Ao'nung's tone was firm but gentle. I looked down for a moment but when I looked back up, he was holding back tears. Ao'nung ran his fingers over some of the bandages on my arm, down to my stomach, and my thighs.
"Please don't do this anymore, talk to me about it. I'm here for you Ayden. You can always come to me. Please, I need you." He whispered
I was close to tears myself as Ao'nung buried his head in my neck. I felt him start to cry as he laid on me, holding me tight. We laid for a bit until I felt a familiar shock and waves of emotion.
Ao'nung had connected our queues.
I could feel his sadness, his sorrow, his pain for me. I could feel his anger, his rage towards my adoptive father and those who had hurt me. I could feel his fear of losing me.And most of all, I could feel his love for me. How much he really needed me. It was greater than the anger, the sadness, and the sorrow combined. The mix and strength from both our emotions made the tears start to flow from my eyes. Ao'nung lifted his head from my neck the second I started to cry, holding my face once again in his hands.
"Do you understand now Ma 'Den?" He whispered
"Yes Ma Ao' I do." I whispered back
"I love you so much Ayden. Please don't leave me" He whispered, putting his forehead on mine as he squeezed me
"I love you more Ao'nung. And I'm here, I won't leave you" I whispered, squeezing him tighter
"I See You" He whispered, wiping the stray tears from my face
"I See You" I whispered back with a smile
