I was lying in bed, just about to drift off into a deep sleep when Vic came to wake me up.
"Hey." He whispered, sitting on the mattress.
"Hmm?" I groaned, half asleep.
"You're not asleep, are you?" He asked.
"Not anymore." I murmured.
I rolled onto my back and glanced at my alarm clock. I probably only really slept for about ten minutes before he showed up. I looked up at him, squinting in the darkness to get a better look at him. I didn't even know why he was here in my room.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said. He leant down and kissed me gently before pulling away. Okay, now I was a little more awake.
"Come on, get up." He whispered.
"Why?" I asked.
"Just come on." He urged.
He held my hand and pulled me into a sitting position. I kind of just wanted to lay back down and go to sleep, but I would never miss an opportunity to spend time with Vic, so I got out of bed. I went to find some proper clothes or even a pair of shoes, but he kept a tight grip on my hands as he led me from the room.
I had no idea what was going on or where we were going, but we ended up outside and heading towards the barn. Was he planning another one on one time in the hayloft? Because last time, that didn't work out so well.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Just somewhere to hang out." He said.
"Now? In the middle of the night? What about my parents?" I asked. I knew they had gone to sleep hours ago. I stayed up later writing fanfiction. I only decided to go to bed when I was sure Vic didn't want to randomly meet up. Clearly, I was wrong to give up so fast.
"They're asleep and we'll be careful when we come back this time." He said.
This was crazy, but I was going along with it anyway. Vic took me into the barn to one of the stables. He had one of the horses all ready and saddled. He let go of my hand and climbed on up.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
He sighed, looking down at me.
"Why do you ask so many questions? Okay, we're going down to the treehouse and horses are quieter transportation." He said.
"Do you even know how to ride a horse?" I asked.
"I learnt." He shrugged.
He held out his hand for me and for a second I was a little reluctant, only because I was afraid of getting caught, but knowing my dad, he was so far in denial about me he'd surely accept any excuse. I wanted to go wherever Vic went anyway, so I took his hand and climbed onto the horse, sitting behind him. I wrapped my arms around him as the horse started walking out of the barn and towards the woods.
I had so many more questions like why were we going out in the middle of the night? Why the treehouse? Was Vic insane? I didn't ask anything though because he was already a little annoyed with all my questions, so instead I shut up and enjoyed the ride through the woods.
When we were far enough away from the house, the horse went into a canter and in no time we were at the treehouse. We jumped down from the horse and Vic tied it to a nearby tree before we went over to the treehouse. The lake was honestly even more beautiful at night time, even though it was a little spooky to be down here after dark.
"Can you tell me what we're doing down here now?" I asked.
"I just think the past couple days have been kinda stressful, so I wanted a chance for you to just relax and for us to hang out." He said.
