1.2 Office Paranoia

"Anupama you are here"  He fiddles with his hands and smiles. We are cool with him. Yeah I'll like to think so, I might have children by him, I might have spent 17 years with him but we are both fine. We are past the emotional abuse, the infedility! Yeah. I just swooped right through it and let go of everything but what I did not anticipate was meeting him a day after my wedding.

But all is well between us. Calm your nerves Anu he is here for a sincere reason. Let's find out.

"I thought I should help Samar with work whilst you were away. I thought.."

"That's very nice of you Mr Shah but I'm not going away anytime soon and the academy is not that much a trouble that Samar can't handle it without me for a few days".

"Well that is good you..."

"Mom can I talk to you. Sorry dad for interrupting".

"Samar?"

"Just come mother". I look back at his father and excuse the both of us.

We find another room with him in our sight though

"Mother he really needs this"

"Need what?"

"He sincerely wants to help and I wanted to help out with his emotional state. He'll go crazy at home and Kavya is not helping with anything. Grandma is forever complaining and since you left no one has talked to anyone. We are simply walking zombies and he just wanted to spend some time out of the house. Please agree mother".

"Samar I can't work with your father".

"It's not forever, just for this time you enjoy your honeymoon with Anuj Buddy and its good for the both of us. He is trying mother. Once you come back the next week, he would have already found something. Please Mom"

"Samar". I sigh. "Okay let me think about it... but you don't make these kind of decisions next time without me, okay?"

"Yes mother". He runs back to his father.

I hope he sincerely wants to help. I can't afford another fiasco. A notification buzz my phone in my hand. I ease my face and clear my voice before answering.

"Miss me?". I shoot.

"You said you'll tell me once you arrive, are you there?"

"Yes I've arrived. And Mr..."

"Go on". I should not let him know, I'll just inform him once he gets here this afternoon for the promo shoot.

"Nothing. You sort out all the work in the office and I'll sort all my work here, do the promo shoot so that we are stress-free on our honeymoon".

"Oh... about that Anu. We need to talk".

"Mhh"

"Uh... we can't go tomorrow".

"That's okay, we can go the next day if tomorrow you are tied up".

"Umh in fact it's the whole week. I have an important deal coming in two days time and I don't trust anyone enough to handle it".

"Oh. Umh it's okay". Why am I disappointed. "It's okay Anuj, you just get on with work and we can always go to Goa anytime of the year. We are in no hurry".

"Are you disappointed?". He asks.

"A little but I also love it when you work for the both of us". I truly do love how manly he must be looking in that suit of his. Just the thought of it...

"Wow next time Anu put your happiness first before anyone else's. Okay? Be selfish at times."

"Huh?". That took a turn.
