"Momma, wake up," a gentle voice called followed by someone jumping on the bed. Juliette groaned and opened her eyes to see green orbs staring back at her.

"Gray? What time is it?" she yawned, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The young boy looked at her sheepishly. "Umm, 5AM."

Her eyes nearly popped out of her head upon hearing that ungodly time. "Kiddo, do you have any idea how early this is? Our alarm doesn't go off for another hour and a half."

"I know. But its Valentine's Day. I couldn't wait," Grayson said, handing her a handmade card and a small gift box. She took the card and noticed on the front was a colored pencil portrait of her and Gray with 'Happy Valentine's Day Momma' written in bubble letters. On the inside was a short poem in child handwriting:

Roses are red, violets are blue,

I'm so lucky,

To have a mom like you.

Love,

Grayson

Her heart swelled in her throat, and sniffled as the boy gently pushed the small parcel in her hand. Carefully, she unwrapped the glittered hearts wrapping paper and opened the plain white box. Inside was a dainty flame pendant on a plated gold chain.

"Oh honey, I love it! Thank you so much baby!" She pulled him into her embrace and planted kisses on his head and cheeks

"Oh honey, I love it! Thank you so much baby!" She pulled him into her embrace and planted kisses on his head and cheeks.

"Ms. Karen took Denny and I shopping last week. I saw it and knew you would love it," he replied proudly.

"I do baby. I am always going to wear this," Jules clasped the necklace around her neck and gingerly held the pendant between her thumb and index finger. "What would you like for breakfast?" She asked wiping the stray tears that fell down her cheeks.

"Hmm, how about we grab Starbucks on the way to school?" A hopeful grin spread on Gray's face. His dimples accentuated his face, and the innocence in his eyes made her smile.

"Hmm, ok. But no caffeine for you," Jules playfully lunged at her son and started tickling him. Laughter filled the room, both hers and his combined in a small symphony.
