Lottie's POV
We set up camp near a quarry just outside of Atlanta with a group of survivors.
There was Shane, Lori, and Carl who all shared a tent and expected me to go with them. An elderly man named Dale and his mechanic buddy Jim slept in Dale's RV.
An Asian man named Glenn and a black guy named T-Dog also shared a tent. A woman named Carol shared a tent with her family; Ed her husband and Sophia, a sweet little girl that was Carl's age. There was a Hispanic family with a man who had introduced himself as Morales, I have yet to talk to his wife and two kids though.
There was a group of females that planned on sharing a tent. There was Jacqui, a sweet older black lady that reminded me of an aunt that would steal you away from you parents for a girls day. She bunked with two blonde sisters named Andrea and Amy.
After we were done setting up tents, I had asked the small group of women if I could share a tent with them. Andrea was unsure, Jacqui was concerned, and Amy eagerly accepted me.
I didn't tell them about me being pregnant since Lori and Shane had told me not to. I would've just ignored them, but they pointed out that we didn't know anyone here well enough. Someone might take advantage of my situation.
While I didn't agree, I knew that I had to be much more cautious about things now with my baby at stake.
So when Andrea and Jacqui questioned me, I told them half the truth, Lori and I fight a lot and I didn't feel comfortable sharing a tent with her because I didn't want to cause problems at camp. They understood this and let me bunk with them.
Finally there were the Dixons; Merle and Daryl. Merle was in his late thirties while Daryl was dad's age. They were, well to put bluntly, white trailer trash folk. They had a bunch of hunting gear, and Merle was a loud mouthed pervert who constantly referred to people by racial profiles like 'taco bender' or 'chinaman'. He also referred to me and Amy as 'princesses' which made me slightly uncomfortable.
Daryl on the other hand, was quieter than Merle. He mostly kept to himself and didn't butt in when Merle was going at it unless someone went at him. He was quick tempered, but very loyal and thoughtful. He had come over to check in on Carl when Lori disappeared while he was doing homework. He was struggling with math, which wasn't a good subject for him, he preferred history and science.
{~Flashback to day three of the end~}
I sat next to Carl, rubbing his back as he set his head down in frustration. He was taking a five minute break to cool off so he wouldn't get overwhelmed. Carol was near us with Sophia doing some reading homework.
Daryl suddenly walks up and takes notice of Carl's position "What's wrong with him?" He asks. I look up and see he has his crossbow and arrows along with a few dead swamp rats. I ignored those and said "Math isn't our favorite subject..." Carl groaned and added "Is it anybody's?!"
