As the years passed, Vulcan and Alex's friendship continued to thrive. They had both turned 18 now, and their bond had only grown stronger.

Vulcan had taught Alex everything he knew about the castle and its history. They had explored every room and secret passage, and they had even discovered a hidden library filled with ancient tomes and scrolls.

Alex had become fascinated with the history of the castle and had begun to document everything he had learned in a journal. He had also become an accomplished musician, and he would often play the piano in the castle's grand hall, filling the room with beautiful melodies.

Vulcan was immediately concerned. "What is it?" he asked.

"I've been accepted to a university in the city," Alex said. "I leave in a few weeks."

Vulcan's heart sank. He had known this day would come, but he had hoped it wouldn't be so soon. "That's great news," he said, trying to sound happy for his friend.

But Alex could see through his facade. "I know you're upset," he said. "But we'll still be friends. We can write to each other and visit each other on holidays."

Vulcan nodded, trying to hold back his tears. "Of course," he said.

The next few weeks were a blur of activity as Alex prepared to leave for university. Vulcan helped him pack and hugged him tightly when it was time for him to leave.

As he watched Alex's car disappear down the winding road, Vulcan couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness inside him. He knew that he would miss his friend terribly, but he was determined to continue their friendship no matter what..
