Vulcan spent the first few weeks after Alex's departure feeling lost and alone. He wandered the halls of the castle, missing the sound of his friend's voice and the warmth of his presence.

But he knew that he couldn't let himself wallow in his loneliness. He had promised Alex that they would stay in touch, and he intended to keep that promise.

And so, he began to write letters to Alex, pouring his heart out onto the pages. He would tell him about his daily life in the castle, about the books he was reading, and about the new discoveries he had made.

Alex would write back, sharing stories about his life in the city and the new friends he had made. He would also send photographs of the places he had visited, and Vulcan would study them with fascination, imagining what it would be like to see the world outside the castle walls.

As time passed, Vulcan began to adjust to his new routine. He would spend his days reading, playing music, and exploring the castle. He even started to write his own music, inspired by the beauty and mystery of the castle.

But despite his newfound hobbies, he still missed Alex terribly. He longed for the sound of his friend's voice and the warmth of his embrace.

One day, several months after Alex had left, Vulcan received a surprise visitor. It was Alex's mother, who had come to visit him.

Vulcan was shocked but thrilled to see her. He had always been fond of Alex's mother, and he was grateful for the opportunity to speak with her.

As they sat down in the castle's grand hall, Alex's mother told Vulcan about how proud she was of her son and how much he missed him. She also told him about how much Alex had changed since leaving for university. He had become more confident and independent, and he had made many new friends.

Vulcan listened to her words with a mixture of joy and sadness. He was happy to hear that Alex was doing well, but he couldn't help feeling a twinge of jealousy at the thought of him making new friends.

As they spoke, Vulcan noticed something strange about Alex's mother. She seemed to be avoiding his gaze, and her movements were stiff and jerky.

Suddenly, he realized what was wrong. She was afraid of him.

He tried to reassure her, telling her that he would never harm her or anyone else. But she remained wary, and after a few minutes, she made an excuse to leave.

Vulcan was left feeling hurt and confused. He knew that being a vampire made him different, but he had never felt so isolated before. it was a different feeling of isolation than before.
