Many thoughts, both Nahida's and Wanderer's raced through her mind. Why does he want to become closer to me as a friend, but doesn't want to become closer to me as friend? Why would Wanderer want to do such a contradictory thing? Despite her uncertainty, she certainly didn't want to pass this opportunity by. She knew that this was the first time Wanderer ever tried to make an effort, even if he had ulterior motives. Maybe I can use this as an opportunity to grow closer to him.
"Would you like to go to the Puspa Café and chat over a meal? They have a spectacular selection of meals, not just sweets." Nahida said happily, hiding her worries behind a cheerful smile.
Wanderer's expression changed from annoyed to amused, almost like Nahida said something that Wanderer wanted to hear. While she didn't want to tune into his personal thoughts, she could feel that he was pleasantly surprised. Thankfully, her memory was correct, and her careful wording helped convince him to have a lunch get-together. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow then. You'll have to give me meal recommendations." Wanderer awkwardly told her, almost jolting out of his seat, as if being near Nahida was going to harm him.
Nahida immediately decided to go to Puspa Café to pick out a meal that Wanderer enjoyed. Almost immediately, her body trembled a small amount, and beads of sweat settled on her minuscule eyebrows. Forcing herself to think about something else about the task at hand, she focused on deciding what meal to pick for Wanderer. Her small legs, still trembling from fear, began their journey to the cafe. I wonder if Wanderer would prefer something salty, or something sour. Nahida sighed from mental anguish. If only knowledge could help me befriend Wanderer. After what felt like years, she arrived safely at the entrance to the cafe. Walking up to Enteka, she politely asked her about her own menu, one of the few things the God of Knowledge was unable to know. Thankfully, Enteka noticed Nahida quickly, most likely due to her standing as a god. A slight expression of confusion crossed her face, before smiling softly. "Lesser Lord Kusanali! What brings a god to my cafe?"
Nahida thought quickly, constructing a sentence in such a way to not offend her. I don't want her to think I dislike her sweets-I do enjoy them greatly! However, Wanderer won't... "Enteka, would you possibly have anything that isn't sweet? I'm looking for a dish my friend will like."
An pensive expression passed her face, and she shook her head. "We haven't had any dishes outside of sweets for many months. However, since you're the archon, maybe I can make a special that your friend will like."
Nahida smiled sweetly. "That won't be required. I don't want to force you to do something that isn't needed, especially since it could harm your business."
However, to Nahida's surprise, Enteka insisted. "Actually, I've wanted to make a larger selection of meals for a very long time. However, my first non-sweet dish won't be ready to serve within the next few days. You and your friend will have to come in a week or so, unfortunately."
"That works out great for me, thankfully." Nahida said happily. "I'll see you in a week!"
As she left, nervousness began to creep in. This has to go well. Both his future and Sumeru's depend on it.
