[based a few days before s1 ep1]
"With sunshine and great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, I feel that life begins over again with summer."
SUNDAY was a particularly windless day, the usual warm breeze that came from the open window facing the rising sun never came. So instead, everyone on the Outer Banks was left with the humid air and the salt on the sea.
Lily Markos face lay in an awkward position on her green and blue fitted sheets, a gray blanket bunched up at the end, and pillows were thrown across her room. The room was cluttered and there were areas marked by crayons from years ago to chips in the wood of her chair that she stubbornly never wanted to get rid of. And there were even markings on the wall of her and her best friends height over the years. But that's what she liked, it was something that would last and say that there had been life here, that there had been memories made.
A blonde girl retreated from the bathroom, a brush running through her hair as she belly flopped onto the bed, making Lily lose her page in her book. "Hey!"
"And then Top-"
Lily knew what she was about to say next and wrinkled her nose, "God, Sarah, I don't want to know everything about last night."
She didn't mind a party, sure it was fun to go out and get drunk sometimes, but kids on the island didn't mind getting wasted every weekend. Lily would rather devote her Sunday mornings to Sarah and her books rather than a hangover. But sometimes, it was the only way to cope.
"Okay but there's a kegger next weekend, promise you'll come?" Sarah shifted, moving so she was sitting across from Lily on the bed, wrapping the blanket around her shoulders. She pouted for a moment and Lily rolled her eyes, hiding a smile behind her lips as she spoke, "Fine, I guess I can survive being around a bunch of drunk teenagers for an hour." Sarah shot her hand up in the air, celebrating silently.
