"Birds of a feather, we should stick together, I know I said I'd never think I wasn't better alone."

Midsummers was like she always expected. Every decoration entered perfection and the breeze hung loose in the air. The flower decorations were resplendent in a haze of blues to pinks to oranges, as if it represented the coming sunset. And there wasn't anything Lily loved more than sunrises and sunsets.

Maybe if this was a party on the beach, then she could get behind it. But for now it was just some stuffy kook function.

The sun had already set, and the party was hopping. Well that's what her Dad said. She decided to split off from them and try to find Sarah, desperate to gush over how pretty she knew she'd look.

But where she wasn't looking was where she was walking, because she swiftly bumped into who she thought was a waiter. She grabbed ahold of his arm, beginning to apologize.

"I am so, so sorry." And the boy cursed, but when she turned around, she wasn't at all surprised at who she saw.

"Oh, Maybank."

There was JJ again, and she wondered what the hell he was wearing, and held back a short giggle. He smirked, "Well hey there Lila. Can't stop running into me?"

He had to be messing with her. "It's Lily." She rolled her eyes.

Upon seeing his face, her eyes finally registered the bruises and her heart dropped. She immediately reached out toward him. "Jesus, what the hell happened?!"

Her hand grazed the bruise, eyes flickering to the cut on his lip and cheek. A moment of silence fell between them, JJ looked at her with an indescribable look on his face, while she was too concerned with what happened, what made his face all bruised. Nothing like that could've come from a little fight.

He brought back his smirk, one that she was getting to know all too well, "I knew you cared about this pretty face."

At that she scoffed, bringing her arm back to her side, telling him to shut up. Then, his face changed, like he remembered he was on some sort of mission, "Hey, uhh. You seen Sarah around?"

"Yeah- No, I was actually looking for her." And she spotted a small piece of paper in his hand, and a thought popped into her head. Wherever JJ was, John B wouldn't be far behind.
