"Lila, right?"

LILY awkwardly trailed behind her best friend who held Topper's hand, stumbling slightly as she pulled him onto the sand. The sun was setting beautifully that evening which was Lily's favorite time of the day as she snapped a quick picture.

Despite being with Sarah, Lily would much rather be helping out with her Mom at home, their house still suffering major damages from the storm. Even though her Mom said she had it handled, she still wanted to help, especially with her Dad out of town for a neuro consult.

Since Sarah and Topper were pretty much all over each other, Lily chose to simply hang out and maybe  drink a few beers, hoping the night would be over quickly. People watching was her specialty.

Except this time Sarah made her promise that they would only leave if she got a guy- or girls number, and while it wasn't that hard to do, Lily's prospects were limited. Most of the guys were annoying, smug, and just plain disgusting people who only cared about money and promoting sexism.

Some people she simply knew wouldn't go for her, maybe because they thought she was a spoiled brat or a quiet know it all, she didn't care. She cared a lot.

Maybe it was because she didn't think she was good, or pretty enough. Maybe she just needed to be more like Sarah, outgoing, peppy. She could be peppy. No she couldn't, not like Sarah was.

Sarah always tried to convince the auburn-haired girl otherwise, in Sarah's mind, she was envious of Lily. Being smart beats just having dated a lot of guys, and her looks made her look hard to get, so they'd back off. But "Guys like confidence" were Sarah's wise words that Lily tried to believe.

"Beer?"

Lily looked up and she met eyes with the boy from the other day, the blonde. Maybank. She quirked her brow, he was stumbling slightly and his eyes were glassy as if he had a joint with him.

JJ was too drunk already, six beers in and he was about to flirt with a pretty Kook. He wasn't thinking clearly, but, when did he ever?

"For me? You sure you don't want another?" She replied, a smirk climbing its way up onto her lips as she motioned to a beer he held in his other hand. She was surprised as the words flew from her mouth seamlessly, never being this fast thinking in a situation like this.
