Put It Out!

    The monotonous days continued.

Sure, Vin is grateful for Mae's companionship and care.
She's far too routine and drab.  There's only so many times I can chase my own tail to spark some excitement.  Spark!  Yes!  Her magic!  That is always exciting.
He runs in front of Mae, then turns around to face her.  "Show me a spell a haven't seen yet, please??" He tried  to make his eyes large and round, too cute to say no to.

Mae halts her walking and peers down at Vin.  "I suppose I could squeeze some practice in right now.  I know very few spells. There is one I haven't tried out yet.  It's called Falling Fire. Back up a few steps, there will be fire, best you're not too close."   She take a couple steps away from Vin herself.

Scampering over to the side of the tree, Vin made sure he still had prime view of Mae's feat of magic. He wrung his little hands in anticipation, and bit back a squeal of excitement.

Mae's posture grew rigid, she held her arms out away from her body, her palms held upwards.  Closing her eyes she chanted the words " Livtomin Flameous."  She repeated the words three times, her voice increasing in volume each time.

A change in the air made Vin's fur stand up.  There was a rapid rise in temperature.  His ears detected a sizzle that came from all around him.
He gulped in fear when his attention was directed to the sky.  Above them, numerous fireballs of various sizes were raining down toward where they stood!

Vin screamed in pure terror, then ran to Mae and dove under her robes.  He poked his head out, despite how scared he felt, he had to watch.
I might die.  This could be the end of me.  Yet, I can't deny this excitement.  I can't take my eyes off the growing danger.  It's.. beautiful

The treetops caught the majority of the fireballs.   Only two crashed to the ground.  The dry trees, leaves, shrubbery, etc basically everything in the perimeter, ignited.   The flames quickly spreading and surrounding them.

"Make it stop!  Make it stop!!" Vin cried out,  panic evident in his voice.  He heard Mae mutter to herself, something about not knowing any water or rain spells.  Craning his head upwards he saw Mae's eyes were wide open, she was shaking and hyperventilating.

The heat was becoming unbearable.  Smoke obscured their vision and tainted the air.

"Mae!!! * cough cough* Do something!!!" Vin screamed as loud as he could muster.

Suddenly, he felt Mae bend down and place her hand on his head.  Then, a sensation like his body was being sucked inward.  He's pretty sure it made him vomit into his mouth.
