Vin twisted his body in a 180 degree turn, then bolted. Pumping his little legs as quickly as they'd go.
She's gone. I'm alone. What do I do? Where do I go? How will I survive? Can I trust anyone? I'm alone.. alone.
Panic was taking over. Between the exertion of his running and his frantic thoughts, his breathing was coming out in gasps. He skidded to a halt, momentum sending him into a somersault. While curled up in a ball on the ground, he took a moment to regulate his breathing.
Standing up, he performed a full body shake to rid himself of dirt and dust. Inspecting his fur for any charring or damage. He released a breath to see his fur coat remained immaculate. Perfection.
A roar of laughter hit Vin's ears. It was coming from a wooden structure ahead of him. There was a warmth emanating from it, quite like the pleasant warmth from a regulated fire. A ruckus of more guffaws burst from inside the structure.
Warmth and hearty laughter can't lead to anything bad, right? I might find my next companion inside. Just walk through that large entry hole, Vin. You can do this.Taking a deep breath, he squared his shoulders and walked inside on his hind legs. Hoping it would give the illusion of him being muscular and formidable.
He marched a few steps inside, then stood frozen in place. Entranced by all the species that filled the place to capacity. All different shapes and sizes. The tantalizing scents of sweat, body odor and food invaded his nostrils. He was approaching sensory overload, when a shout pulled him back.
"Well, Look at what the cat dragged in!" The voice came from a female who stood behind a "wall of wood?" The female has round green eyes, brunette hair that was held back in a pony tail and bosoms, wow those bosoms. Her tight blouse lifted those ample breasts in a perfect way.
From a back corner, another shout sounded. "I would never drag something that repulsive into your fine establishment!" A grey with black striped cat announced .
"Ok, Tom ok. Let's double back and be nicer to our newcomer here." The female's voice softened up as her attention moved back to Vin. "You look like you've been through hell and back. You need a drink. Take a seat, this one is on me."
Those were insults weren't they? They must have poor eyesight. Or it's this dim lighting. I look fabulous.
Vin followed her hand gesture to an object that he noticed others were sitting on top of. He picked out a taller one that wasn't occupied. He effortlessly climbed it, and planted his rear on the surface, mimicking the others around him. The added height brought his head and arms right to the top portion of the wall.
With a "Plonk" the female placed a cylindrical object filled with a golden colored liquid in front of him
"The name is Gwen and this is my finest Ale. It never fails to cure what ails ya."Gwen noticed the weasel's face crinkle in confusion at he stared at the mug that was half the size him. "Go ahead and hop on top of the bar. It'll give you a better angle to dive right in and drink up."
After clambering onto the bar top, Vin took in the aroma of the Ale. It smelled like heaven. Without further ado, he leaned into the mug and proceeded to slurp it up. The taste sent him into a moaning mess. Soon after swallowing, a wonderful warm sensation ensued.
This is it. This is life and what it's all about.Vin boldly stood up tall on the bar, foam stuck to his snout. Pointing at his mug of Ale, he declared "This is now the love of my life!"
