Iris leant against the TARDIS' console as she played with The TARDIS key that now hung around her neck. Her eyes were fixed on the door as she and The Doctor waited for Rose to finish with her goodbyes to her mother and Mickey. They had stayed on earth a short time after Christmas, but now it was time to go on their next adventure.
As Rose entered, taking off the backpack of clean clothes, her eyes landed on Iris. Both girls shot each other large smiles. The night before the two had stayed up later than they probably should have just to be excited over whatever their next adventure was going to be. Iris looked back to The Doctor, who quickly returned her smile, flicking up a lever as he sent the three of them off to somewhere completely new.
Iris turned around as Rose came to her side, her coat and second bag discarded on the console room's chair. "So where are we going?" Rose asked, resting her hand over Iris'.
The Doctor looked at the two girls, leaning over and turning a dial in front of Iris as he spoke, "Further than we've ever gone before."

Following Rose out of the TARDIS Iris paused, looking out at the field in front of them as cars flew overhead to the nearby city. A hand on her shoulder made her realise she was still halfway through the doorway. Despite only being there a short time, she had forgotten what places other than earth were like. Of course she remembered how different it was going to be, but actually being there was so different.
Iris made her way over to Rose, "It's the year five billion and twenty three." The Doctor began, shutting the TARDIS door behind him and making his way to Iris' side. "We're in the galaxy M87, and this?" He took a short look around. "This is New Earth."
"What happened to old earth?" Iris looked at him, head tilted slightly.
"It died, the sun expanded and Earth went with it. They all got nostalgic, so they found this place and rebuilt it. Same size as the Earth, same air, same orbit. Lovely. Call goes out, the humans move in." The Doctor explained, placing an arm around her shoulder as they looked out at the city.
Iris looked up at him as he spoke, "Amazing." She breathed out, looking back towards the water in front of them.
"I'll never get used to this. Never." Rose said, shaking her head. She began to bounce up and down, "Different ground beneath my feet," She stopped, looking up as more cars passed them. "different sky. What's that smell?"
Taking a breath in Iris noticed it too. "Apples?" She guessed.
The Doctor leaned down, plucking a piece of grass from the ground and sniffing it. "Apple grass." He corrected her, holding out the piece for her. Iris lent over, sniffing it. Sure enough, the smell of apples hit her as soon as she took a breath in.
