I groaned and shifted in my sheets as I tried to find my phone. The ringing of my alarm loud and irritating, but serving its purpose in getting me up. Finally, after finding it tangled down at my feet and shutting it off. I was able to get up to brush my teeth. I woke up about an hour and a half before my classes started so I could grab a bite to eat.
I've seen a couple of small shops and cafes down the street that looked pretty good so that's where I'll go.
After brushing my teeth and fixing up my bed head I decided to throw on a hoodie seeing it was a bit chilly outside and I planned to fly there to wake me up. I found a dark blue M.U hoodie with their logo on the front of it. Slipped it over my head and then pulled my wings out from some holes in the back. I grabbed my phone and keys and placed them inside the pocket which was thankfully zippered knowing that they could fall out as I flew.
Opening my window I peered outside, a cold breeze hitting my face as soon as I stuck it out my window. Then before I could change my mind I leapt out into the air and spread my wings, flying in the direction of one of the cafes I planned on going too.
As I flew my big shadowy figure caught the attention of many of the passersby's. I simply glanced down at them as I passed over them from above, my red eyes unnerving some. As I lazily observed the monsters walking by from above I swear I saw the Scaring 101 teacher, which was the class I was in for most of the day as a scaring major. Hopefully I'm not late to class knowing he's already seen me.
I swooped down and landed in front of a quaint little cafe. A little bell rung as I opened the door and ducked my head a little at the low door frame. I mean as a monster I wasn't THAT tall, Sully is still taller than me, but this doorframe is just short. Moving on I walked over to the end of the short line to the cash register and started looking over the menu.
I made it over to the cash register and squinted at the menu, "Can I get a Carmel Macchiato, venti, with one of those breakfast sandwiches you guys got?"
"U-um yes sir, that'll be $9.35," the cashier stuttered out.
Is he blushing?
I pulled my phone out my pocket and opened the case to grab my debit card out from behind it, "Here you go," I handed the cashier my hard.
Our hands barely touched as I handed it over and his face seemed to go up in flames. Does he like me or something? Usually my appearance drives people away... hm.
"Here you go sir, you order will be right up," the cashier handed my debit card back and I tucked it back into my phone as I walked over to a small table to wait. Sitting back I let my eyes scan over the interior of the cafe. There were cute little decorations here and there, the walls were painted a light pastel pink, and there were plants hanging in every corner and on the windowsill. There were about 5 other people here excluding the workers, probably grabbing a bite to eat before they had to go to work or school like me.
After about 7 minutes I saw the cashier that attended me walking over with my order.
"Here you go sir," the cashier handed my stuff over with a flustered look once again.
"Thanks," I said as I took my food from his hands.
"Have a nice day, come back soon!" He said as I got up and walked out the door.
I had about a half hour till class and I forgot to grab my stuff for class, so now I have to fly back to my room.
I took off as soon as I walked out the door almost knocking over a couple of people as they were walking right by the entrance. Deciding to eat my food on the way I unwrapped my food and just munched on the way.
Landing at the dormitory I walked in and hurried up the steps to my room, I would take the elevator but it's so slow for some reason, walking up the stairs would be much faster.
I made it too my dorm and pulled the key out of my pocket, unlocking the door.
I walked in and threw the balled up wrapper from my food into the trash and picked up my backpack from the corner of my room.
I didn't have much in there, just my Scaring 101 textbook, a notebook, and a couple pencils.
I don't think I'll need much for that class anyways.
I grabbed my unfinished coffee after slinging the backpack over my shoulder and left my dorm once again. I had about 15 minutes left to get to class so I decided to walk to the scaring school instead of flying. After a while I had somehow merged into another group of monsters that were headed over to the scaring hall as well.
As we made it to the entrance our glob somehow became a line and as we neared the door some people started rubbing the claw of a statue of a gargoyle before going through the door. I did the same, not wanting to be the odd one out. I assumed it must've been some kind of tradition to bring luck or pay your respects seeing as how that part of the statue was a lighter color than the rest it, most likely from the same thing being done year after year.
I think I was supposed to have this class with Sully, but I couldn't seem to find him anywhere. Sighing, I chose an empty row to sit at that was kind of in the middle of where everyone sat. The seats around me where mostly empty for some reason, but I don't think I'm that intimidating. Weird.
The classroom was actually really big, you'd expect that big tall building to hold several classrooms and floors but it's just one big one with maybe an office or two off to the side. The seating for the students was in a bleacher like form where they went up the father back you were, there were a lot of rows of seats and the entrance into the classroom was at the top. The center floor of the classroom was in a circular shape perfectly framed by the light coming out of the windows on the walls, with a theater like stage at the front, along with statues of scarers along the windows on the right side of the classroom.
After a couple of minutes of everyone being situated, I saw what looked like our professor walk in and place a couple of binders on his desk in the back. He then walked up to a chalkboard in the front left of the stage and wrote down "PROF. KNIGHT" with "SCARING 101" right under it.
"Good morning students," professor Knight bellowed, "Welcome to scaring 101, I am professor Knight."
"Now I'm sure you all were the scariest monster in your town," he said after turning around to face us with a mocking voice.
As professor Knight spoke I heard some creaking from the windows up above. I looked up just in time to see what seemed to be Dean Hardscrabble or at least her shadow, behind a window at a balcony like ledge.
"Well bad news kids," professor Knight continued without noticing, "You're in my town now, and I, do not scare easily- (Gasp)" professor Knight was startled as there was a sudden bright light entering the classroom, and the sound of a window opening could be heard.
Everyone looked up in time to see Dean Hardscrabble leap down from the ledge and fly around the classroom at an impressive speed. As she flew she closed all the curtains leaving most of the classroom in darkness and the open window on the roof the only source of light.
She landed near professor Knight and proceeded to walk towards the students on her hundreds of small centipede legs.
"Dean Hardscrabble, this is a pleasant surprise," professor Knight said unsurely.
"She's a legend, she broke the all-time scream Record in that very can!" I heard one of the student whisper excitedly from somewhere in front of me as the dean went to inspect her can.
She cleaned it up by picking the dust off of it.
"I don't mean to interrupt," she said, "I just thought I'd drop by to see the, terrifying faces joining my program," she smiles slightly as she overlooked the crowd, her hovering over me for a few extra seconds.
"Well I'm sure my students would love to hear a few words of inspiration," professor Knight stammered.
"Inspiration?" She pondered, "Very well, scariness... is the true measure of a monster," she spoke as walked across the classroom, "If you're not scary, what kind of a monster are you? It's my job to make great students, greater," she looked over at me and then looked away.
"Not make mediocre students, less mediocre, that is why at the end of the semester, there will be a final exam," she now stopped walking and looked at the crowd of students, "fail that exam, and you're out of the Scaring program."
After hearing this, a commotion of gasping students and murmurs broke out in the crowd.
"So, I should hope that you're all properly inspired," and with that, she spread her wings circling once over the students and then leaving out where she came from.
"Alright, alright," Professor Knight attempted to settle down the distressed students.
I was honestly really wondering where Sully was, he should've been here ages ago. I looked glanced over all the students when I noticed the small green monster from yesterday night sitting in the front row. I didn't know he was an actual scare student, interesting.
"Who can tell me the effective properties of a roar?" Professor Knight's voice pulled me out of my own thoughts.
The small green monster in the front row was called on and he stood up from his chair to speak, "There are actually five, those include the roar's resonance, the duration of the roar, and the-" he was suddenly cut off by a load roar coming from behind us, making everyone jump.
I looked behind bright light coming from the open doors of the classroom and what looked to be like Sully's shadow in the middle.
"Whoops. Sorry. I heard someone say "roar" so I kind kinda went for it," Sully said as he walked down the steps. He looked around and spotted me and an empty chair next to me so he forced his way over to me while apologizing to the monsters he squeezed by.
"How you doing?" Sully whispered as he sat down next to me.
"You're late," I chuckled.
"Yeah I know," be whispered back.
"Very impressive, mister...?"Professor knight questioned.
"Sullivan, James P. Sullivan," he introduced himself.
I rolled my eyes at how he shows off.
"Sullivan? Like Bill Sullivan? The scarer?" Professor Knight said impressed.
"Yeah he's my dad," Sully smirked, shrugging his shoulders.
"I should've known, I expect big things from you," Professor Knight said proudly.
"Welp you won't be disappointed," Sully gave the prof a toothy smile.
"Uh, I'm sorry should I keep going?" The small green monster whose name I STILL don't know stammers out.
"Nah nah, Mr. Sullivan's covered it," the prof said interrupting him.
Sullivan clicks his tongue and does finger guns at the prof and I can't help but roll my eyes at him. I nudge him slightly to get him to stop being embarrassing and playfully glare at him. He eyes me and chuckles at my face.
Suddenly the whole class starts groaning as the professors gotten serious again and asks us to take out our scaring textbooks. Sully not surprisingly forgetting to bring his had to read off of mine. Then he reaches inside of my bag and starts picking his teeth with one of MY pencils, I don't hesitate to smack him upside the head.

Finally class is over and I leave, grumbling since Sully has been annoying me all class. Making comments about everything, always talking right in my ear, he just wouldn't let me concentrate.
I kept walking with my head down because of the headache I can feel coming from Sully and don't notice someone standing in my way. As I kept walking I accidentally bumped into them, thankfully neither of us fell.
"Woah there hotshot," I hear a smooth voice say to me, "Where are you headed in such a hurry?"
I look up in confusion only to come face to face with Johnny's charming smile.
"Oh! Sorry I didn't see you there," I rubbed the back of my neck bashfully.
"Bah, it's fine, you done with class?" He asked.
"Um yeah, what are you doing here?" I asked kind of curious.
"Oh I was looking for you," Johnny said smirking.
"Me?" I raised my brow at that.
"Yes you," he chuckled, "Me and the boys were gonna go out to a restaurant out of town, you wanna come?"
I stared at him at him as I thought for a second. I mean I don't have any homework, and I don't have any other plans. Maybe I'll go, I mean I do like Roar Omega Roar, these people are pretty cool and joining would bring along other perks.
"Yeah I'd be down," I zoned back into the conversation, startled a little when I realized Johnny had been making intense eye contact with me this whole time.
"Sorry I have a bad habit of zoning out," I apologized.
"No no don't apologize, I think it... give you character," Johnny joked around.
"Ha, don't be a jerk," I chuckled and nudged his shoulder.
"You go take you're stuff to your room, I'll pick you up in a bit," Johnny planned as I adjusted the strap of my bag over my shoulder.
"Sounds like a plan," I gave him a toothy smile, "See you in a bit."
With that I started walking back to my dorm, enjoying the warm golden sun on my face as I hummed a little tune.—
