Sameer was on the couch, leaning and resting his head on the headrest. He glanced at the wall clock again and sighed. He reminded himself of Naina's words.
The more you wait for someone, the longer they take to come home.
The reason why he had stopped pacing in the hall too. So taking deep breaths, he calmed himself down and sat on the couch, relaxed.
Naina entered through the open door, panting; her face was laden with sweat. Sameer walked to her the moment he saw her.
"Naina, tum haanf kyu rahi ho?" He asked in concern.
"Woh... bhagte-bhagte aayi... der ho gayi na... isliye... " Naina replied, tapping the sweat on her face with her dupatta.
"Pagal ho gayi ho tum? Periods chal rahe hai na tumhare... thoda toh apna khayal rakha karo."
"Offo Sameer... chhodo na... Papa aur Bhaiya gaye Preeti ke ghar?" Naina enquired, looking around.
"Haan, Preeti ke 2 calls aa gaye. Isliye maine hi unko aage bhej diya."
"Achchha kiya. Mai bhi jhatt se tayyar hoti hu. Phir hum bhi chalte hai."
"Ruko."
Holding on her shoulders, Sameer made Naina sit on the couch and went to the kitchen to fetch her a glass of water.
"Aaram se piyo. Paanch minutes se kuchh nahi hoga." He sat beside her.
Naina relaxed a bit. The fatigue of the day could be seen on her face, yet she was smiling, taking each sip of water slowly and adoring how Sameer was adoring her.
Naina opened the bedroom door after she changed into a new dress and Sameer sauntered in the room. Standing behind her, he wrapped his arms around her stomach and admired her beautiful reflection in the wall-fixed mirror.
"I missed you... " He whispered and kissed her temple.
Naina chuckled, picking up the bangles and glancing at Sameer, "haan kitne waqt ke baad mil rahe hai na hum? Poore 10 ghanto baad."
"Tch... mazak mat karo Naina..." Sameer said and hid his face on her nape, inhaling her feminine fragrance mixed with Mogra attar.
Naina let him be the way and finished her tasks of wearing bangles, putting a small bindi, applying light kajal and pinning her dupatta. She turned in his hold and looped her hands around his nape, "I missed you, too..." she said and pecked his lips, blushing with the way he was gaping at her awestruck.
Naina and Sameer arrived at Preeti's house soon. Sameer joined the men sitting on the big couch and Naina joined Preeti and Tanvi in preparing the thaal for aarti, while senior ladies took seats across the dining table.
Shubham and Arjun sat next to each other and their sisters stood in the front to start the rituals of Rakshabandhan. First, Tanvi tied Rakhi to Shubham, later feeding him a mithai and extending her hand for her gift. Shubham handed her a paperbag that had something in a gift-wrap. Tanvi smiled widely and thanked Shubham merrily. Then it was Preeti who tied Rakhi to Arjun and performed his aarti. Arjun took two gift-wrapped boxes from his back and checked its stickers to check which one was Preeti's.
"Inn boxes mein kuchh hai bhi ya aisehi gift-wrap kar diye?" Shubham teased him with a chuckle.
"Chal, chal... tere se toh achchhi hi hai meri economics." Arjun replied back with equal enthusiasm and everyone laughed on their banter.
