For the past 20 years, the Norns have been utterly gleeful. Whispering and chuckling everytime a god would walk by. No one could unearth the secret they were holding. Thor would offer to do them great deeds in exchange and they would decline. Odin and Loki would attempt to beguile the truth out and they talked circles around the two brothers. Freyja tried to charm them. Tyr tried to challenge them.

Nothing worked.

Until the sons of Thor and Sif sneaked into their chamber one night and gazed upon the tapestry the Norns had been weaving for the past 13 years. It was only partially finished but it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen. A brown-haired boy being shunned by his village, shooting down the black silhouette of what looked like a dragon, and flying away from the island he once called home. They saw the glowing beginning of what the Norns had in store for this individual. Going from having no one in his cover to being surrounded by friends and allies, leading them into battle, holding fire in his hand and a shield or iron in the other.

"It seems like the Norns have already guaranteed his seat in Valhalla," Magni said.

"Only if he lives through it," Móði replied. "Either way it looks promising."

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"That we should go get wasted?"

"Yes. After THAT though we should head down to Midgard and see what the fuss is about."

"Sounds like a plan."
