"All you need to do is follow your instincts. You could always sense that someone is near you, if you focus. Upward, front, back, from side to side. They're everywhere. Feel their presence. Feel the ground within your feet. And block your tension, be as confident and calm. Focus and be alert." Ms. Carly instructed me, while I was being blindfolded.
"Are we ready now, Sally?" she asked
"Wait! Wait! What am I supposed to do?"
"You're going to defend yourself from your enemy. You'll fight back in every attack they throw."
"What if I'll hurt them badly?"
"You don't have to worry, Sally. Wolves won't mind a scratch caused by their enemies. They can heal themselves for a second."
How? My mind asking.
"Later, Sally. We'll deal with your instincts first. Let's see how well you can do."
"Okay, I'm ready!"
Just for a second, I could feel that I'm already alone. I took a step forward, listening very intently for an attack. I took another and another one. Until.... It's behind me. It was on its feet moving fast towards me. It came closer and closer, waiting to reach the right place. Then.... Bingo! I ducked down as it tried to jump over me. Another one at my side and avoided it again. They we're incredibly fast. I jumped up a tree, feeling their presence. It was close. So close, until I felt it behind me. As it tries to reach my shoulder, I quickly grab its hands, twisting and turning it upside down. It fell off the tree and jumped down on the ground with my feet. Putting my hand around its arm, pinning it down to the ground. But before I could make a move, someone ran fast across me and made a scratch out of my arm. As it crossed again, I dodged away its attack by jumping overhead. Another at my back again, I moved fast enough to catch its arm but suddenly someone shouted, "Stop!"
"What is it, Ms. Carly?" I asked trying to pull off the blindfold.
"That's enough for today."
"What?! Are you sure?"
"Of course. I just can't afford to let you have another scar."
"This is really nothing, Ms. Carly. Just for a scar? There's no need to worry about. As what you said earlier, we are wolves, we can heal ourselves for a split second."
"Absolutely! But how will you do that?"
Right. Now I get it. She can't afford to give me another scar because she's aware that I'm not capable of knowing to heal myself.
"Oh. Right."
"Learn how to deal with it, and you're back to training."
"Fine."
I have no choice so, I walk back to camp. I went to my room. The moment I moved towards the door, someone grabbed me by the waist.
"Hey!" I gasped but when I took a closer look, I saw Oliver giving a big grin.
"Well, what can I say, It's not funny, Oliver!" I frowned at him.
"Sorry. Did I startle you that bad?"
"No. but you did startle the heck of me!"
Then he saw my arm with the scar on it.
"Hey, that's what you've got for me, a scar?"
"If you want to think it that way, but it's no big deal. It's only a scar."
He touched my arm and said,
"Do you know how to heal it?"
"Healing... well, actually, it's not yet my thing."
"I can be your teacher."
