The Doctor cursed himself silently. He'd been distracted by Rose, and the last hooded creature had caught him completely by surprise. At least now she stood free, watching Angel threaten his captor, a worried look on her face. He grinned at her; more of a grimace really, then his eyes widened as two more hooded creatures streaked from the darkness. He suddenly knew what was going to happen. One grabbed Rose from behind, lifting her into the air and locking his hand around her neck, threateningly jabbing a dagger into her side. He watched as Angel whirled around, distracted, and then the second headed straight for Angel's exposed back.
Angel felt a pain in her neck as she was attacked from behind, feeling herself start to go limp. She growled weakly, feeling like her arms and legs weighed a ton. She had just enough strength to sheath her sword before she went limp, the sweet darkness closing her in a cocoon.
The next thing she knew, was that she was alone, in a cold…dark dank dungeon. She was chained to a wall, her effects, taken. She fell back into unconsciousness, not having the strength to stay conscious. The next time she woke, the dungeon door was opened, a voice speaking.
"The last, living, dragon in existence. By the Goddess be praised." Angel snarled, pulling against the chains that held her.
Rose and the Doctor were in similar situations to Angel. Rose awoke by herself, chained to a wall and with a sharp sticky pain in her side. She couldn't see, it was so dark.
"Doctor?" she asked, feeling around blindly. A whimper escaped her lips as pain jabbed her in the side again. "Angel?"The Doctor fared a little better. Working his chained hands deep into his inside pocket, he pulled out the sonic.
"Haha, you beauty." He grinned to himself, sonicing the chains until they fell off. The door went the same way, and the Doctor stepped out into the dingy dank hall.
Angel snarled, kicking out at the male, almost catching him before he leaped forward and backhanded her across the face, her head going to the side before her hair was grabbed, he snarling at her."Keep this up and you wont see the light of day again, and your friends will die." She spit in his face and he snarled, back handing her again, splitting her lip this time. He ordered her to be turned, her back facing him, her shirt and bra being cut from her body and was tossed away.
The man was handed a leather whip, and he began. He whipped her slowly, methodically. Angel growled in pain but did nothing else. She was not about to show this bastard weakness. She was whipped over and over, the strokes getting harder, the welts redder. He then switched to a bamboo switch, slicing across her back with it, drawing blood. Angel arched in pain, pulling against the chains, but still didn't give the man satisfaction to hear her cry out.
The male snarled and was handed the worst of the three whips, the cat of nines."I'm going to break you, I'm going to hear you scream and beg for mercy before I'm through with you." He rose his arm back and let it fly, the pieces of metal braided into the strips of leather, pierced Angel's back, and when he pulled back, they ripped out, causing extensive damage. He did that five times before stopping. Angel was now kneeling the chains pulled tight, the moonlight reveling her bloody back. He left her be, locking the door behind him…licking the blood from his hand before moving down the hallway and out of sight.
The sound of a whip cracking suddenly reached the Doctor's ears, echoing down the empty hall. Footsteps soon followed, and the Doctor stepped quickly into an empty doorway. A hooded form stalked past, trailing a bloody whip behind him, and the Doctor's hearts dropped. He waited until the footsteps stopped, and he distantly heard the crash of another heavy metal door being slammed, then moved quickly, following the droplets of blood. He soniced the door lock and it swung open to reveal Angel, curled up on the ground, her back a cracked, bloody mess. Anger and rage flared through him; he stalked over and knelt beside her, pressing a hand to her cheek.
"Angel," he murmured, and her eyelids flickered. "Angel, can you hear me?"
Angel opened her eyes slowly, blinking a few times. She felt the Doctor's hand on her cheek, looking to him.
"Doctor? Ahhh, my back, that hurts." She could feel that it was wet and sticky, and she knew it was blood. She pulled herself up slowly by the chains, her chest facing the wall, trying to keep some of her dignity left in tact. Her back stung and burned, the blood dripping down her back. She also noticed Rose wasn't there. "Doc, where's Rose?""One thing a' a time," he said quietly, seizing her torn shirt from the corner of the room. "Here, stay still for a sec." He pressed the material gently as he could to her back, soaking up the blood. Her body tensed and he gripped her hand. "Just a bit more..." When Angel's back was less bloody and more skin, he could see the lines where the whip had ripped her back. The Doctor's jaw tightened, and he shrugged off his jacket, then his jumper, and he handed his jumper to her, putting his jacket back on. "Here you go; it'll hurt but it's better than nothing."
Angel took the shirt from him, wincing. She pulled his shirt on, oh that stung.
"Ahh, that stings." She moved out of the room with him slowly, finding a deserted hallway. She looked left then right, then left again. 'Which way, which way are you you son of a bitch.
"He went this way," the Doctor said quietly, taking her hand and leading her down the hall. The Doctor wanted to go faster, but he knew that Angel would already be going as fast as she could, and he wouldn't push her past her limit. "We've got to find Ro-" A muffled scream split the near silence, and the pair halted, the Doctor's hand tightening on Angel's. "If that's her…" he growled, stalking towards the nearest door, his eyes flashing with rage.
Angel heard that scream and snarled, but she also smelled that bastard's scent."Doc, take care of Rose, I'm going after that bastard who did this to me." She moved off down the hall, ignoring The Doctor's calls for her to stop. She moved down the hallway and out of sight.
She found her sword and duster easily, putting both on, wincing as it jarred her back. She followed the man's scent, dispatching any hooded figures that got in her way. She found the male's office and kicked the door in, but he wasn't there. "Where are you, you bastard." There was a grunting and a groaning from down the hall and she growled, moving towards it.She kicked the door in and almost lost her lunch, the male had a male…bent over a table…. and was…..well…doing things to him that should be considered illegal. The male turned and snarled, pushing the male away from him roughly, causing him to fall onto the floor at his feet. The male grabbed a sword.
"I don't know how you got out of your cage, pet, but you wont be leaving here in one piece." Angel drew her sword, snarling.
"Its you who's life will be ending tonight, I hope you've made peace with your God because you're GOING TO MEET HIM TONIGHT!"
