Donna's driveway
2:04pm
Donna carries a box out to her car. She was supposed to pack yesterday, but every time she tried, she couldn't do it. She had to see Eric first. She is glad she did.
"Hey!" Eric calls, coming from his house.
"Hey," Donna says back. Her heart beats faster now that he's here. It is so good to see him again.
"So, you're really leaving then?" Eric says.
"Yep, just getting the last of it," Donna says as she slaps the box. There is friction between them that wasn't there before he left. So much has changed.
Eric feels it too. He has missed Donna so much. He thought letting her go would be best for her. It may still be. His feelings for her haven't changed. "Would you like some help?" he asks hopefully. If she's leaving, he wants to spend every minute he can with her before she goes.
"Yeah, that'd be great," Donna smiles.
Eric follows Donna up to her bedroom.
"Wow, it's so...empty," Eric says. The posters are all gone, as is most of the furniture.
"Yeah, with Dad moving, everything's either been sold or in storage," Donna says.
"I can't believe you're not going to be living here anymore," Eric says, looking around at the bare walls, "you've been here practically my whole life. I have so many memories in this room. There's where you knocked my tooth out when I was 8. There's where I used to sneak in your window. And there-" Eric points to the bed, the one piece of furniture left, "LOTS of memories over there."
Donna laughs and rolls her eyes. Eric's only move to combat his awkwardness is more awkwardness. It's cute.
Eric decides to press his luck. What's the worst that could happen? "You know, for old time's sake, I think we should give that bed one last hurrah."
Donna smiles, but shakes her head. "You didn't think that was actually going to work, did you?"
"I don't know...maybe?" Eric shrugs. "Look, Donna, I know we're not...together, and that's my fault. I'm not suggesting we get back together or anything, just a good, old fashioned, roll in the hay, no strings attached. Friends with benefits, if you will."
Donna considers it a moment. "Well," she says approaching Eric, "it has been a while."
"Really?!" Eric says, surprised. He didn't expect his lame moves to actually work.
"Like you said, no strings attached, right?" Donna puts her arms around Eric's neck.
"Right," Eric says. They lean in.
"Donna!!!!" a shrill voice sounds from the hallway.
"Jackie?" Donna says when Jackie appears in the doorway. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm a dirty whore!" Jackie cries, rushes past and collapses on Donna's bed in sobs. Donna and Eric look at each other, annoyed and frustrated that their moment has been interrupted.
"I better go," Eric says, gesturing towards the door. Donna nods and shuts the door behind him.
"Okay, Jackie, what's going on?" Donna says as she sits down on the bed. Jackie is always so dramatic. It's probably something stupid like her hair not setting right.
Jackie props herself up just enough to look at Donna. "I kissed another guy."
"What?!?" Donna can't believe what she is hearing.
