The shrill cries of the woman and the cold eyes of my brother made questions arise from their slumber . My mother soon soothed the woman as I followed by twin brother who was walking away .
We walked deep into the forest when he suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned back to me, his expression cold and filled with no emotion whatsoever.
" Do you believe I have a hand in her son's death?" He asked with his eyes looking up at the blue sky. " I'm I wrong?" I questioned, " you have so little faith in me dear brother, might I ask why?" He looked at me now.
" You showed no emotion of concern whilst that woman was weeping" he smiled at my words, " oh, should I greave for everyone that dies? What was he to me?" I was astonished by his words .
" A woman lost her son Joy, she's in pain" apon hearing my words he stared up at the sky again, " when you provoke a sleeping lion do you expect to get out unscathed?" He questioned, which was an odd question to me .
" What sleeping lion? The young man did nothing wrong?" Joy's calm expression morphed into anger at my words, " and how would you know, great one with a gift?" His words seemed to be mocking me .
" He's done nothing wrong I just know" he laughed at those words, " your ignorance is truly blissful, you can see the end of their life, their future and present yet you cannot see anything deeper" he spoke now glancing at the trees around us that seemed to shrink on themselves at the meer sight of his presence.
" Can you see into the human heart elder brother, do you know their inner darkness? I rival in that " he said . His words where like riddles so confusing , I stared at him once again, lost for words when the trees told me that our parents needed our presence back home .
I told Joy, who followed me home, the walk was silent and for the first time I realised, Joy and I had nothing in common.
Arriving back home we found our parents waiting for us, " Mrs.Moya, wants justice for her son, she believes his death was not ordinary" Joy, raised his brow at that, " tell that woman to bury her son and stop all her foolishness " our parents frowned apon hearing his words .
" I dare not believe you feel no sympathy for a grieving mother" Our mother spoke his voice stern. " Mama, I mean no disrespect by my words, his death was his own doing" with that he walked away .
The next few weeks I noticed something odd about him, he would stare at Lolo's slowly growing baby bump without words . He seemed to hover around us a lot more, but still he said nothing.
This made me question his behavior once again, so I decided to ask him, " why are you following us around?" He looked at me with his calm eyes, " do you not see it?" He asked frowning a bit as if I had sinned .
" What do your words mean?" I questioned filled with confusion, " the darkness hovering around, do you not see it, it wishes to ingulve everything in it's dark flames" his words caused me to frown .
" I do not understand Joy" willing him to clarify, " the pureness of your unborn child attracts darkness after all the dark is attracted to the light" he spoke clearly yet his words confused me even further.
" Your words are riddles , are you fooling me?" Joy, smiled, " your ignorance is foolishness, I like the darkness around so I follow it" his words somehow upset me.
The feeling came from being unable to understand him, as if his knowledge was beyond my reach . " Speak clearly , I dare you" I commanded him, his clear laugher blossomed filling the space with a strange aura .
" Do not dare give me orders I'm not your servant, rather I could be your worst nightmare if I wished, I'm beyond what you see, you are visible for all to see" I stiffened at those words.
" That I would not do however as you are my blood and the future of this kingdom, one to carry the rivers and mountains to glory, your tale shall be known even after your departure from this world, the great king of the Zulu tribe " his words were filled with honour and praise yet seemed so odd.
" Do not question my presence next to you and your future queen I mean no harm" his words made me silent . I sighed before I spoke once more, " might I ask the reason for his death?" Joy, looked at me then nodded .
" He took the life of the innocent and their cries were heard which led him to take his own life, his wife Luhle, had conceived once before but that little one could not see the beauty of the world before his life was snatched brutally from him" I closed my eyes at his words that Is when I saw it .
What happened that day between the young man and his wife who was known for her inability to bear a child . I could not believe such cruelty could exist, how did I not know about such abuse and the most astonishing fact about the matter was the mother .
The woman had stood by and watched as her son treated a woman like herself as less of a human yet she had the audacity, to come and seek justice for such a monster .
" Do you now see it? It was her wish, she wanted justice for her unborn child and she got it " I nodded as I planned to inform our parents about the matter and lay the whole ordeal to rest .
" Someone is waiting for me, I will take my leave now Gigi" with those words he walked away leaving me to dwell in my own thoughts.
I went home and told my parents the situation in which they were enraged and promised to deal with the matter .
One thing remained the same after my talk with Joy, he still followed us around he wanted to be where Lolo, was at all times and his eyes never left Lolo's stomach.
This was strange and my senses were tingling yet I saw nothing as if my vision was clouded . What was going on?
