I got home late that night , my mind still shocked from what I saw .
How could she still be alive , or was it my imagination ? There was no way the woman could be so powerful she'd go against human nature .
I refused to believe it , since I still had my suspicion , I decided to ask sir Xolo . " Is she really alive?" I asked him.
" The old king knows , ask him about it and he shall tell you " I was a bit surprised that he mentioned my chief grandfather .
I nodded and decided I'd ask him after breakfast the next day . " Having trouble sleeping?" Joy , asked and his sudden question surprised me since I thought he was asleep .
He seemed to sense my surprise , so he laughed softly . " Your my twin brother , I can always sense your discomfort".
I nodded in understanding , I seemed to forget that connection sometimes . " I'm just thinking about stuff you know ?" .
" I know alright , I'm also dealing with quite a lot but what I want to know is if you were serious about marrying Olwethu , on the night of the full moon this week".
I sighed before I spoke again , " I was serious , I'm going to tell mama and papa tomorrow " .
Joy , hummed in agreement . " Then you better get some sleep tomorrow will be a long day for you " .
I laughed a bit then finally decided to rest . It was not long before the roosters woke me up .
I got out of bed and walked to the cooking shed where I knew I'd find mother and aunt Meriam .
" Mama , good morning where's papa ?" I greeted my mother as he was alone trying to start a fire so he can begin cooking breakfast .
" Morning dear , how was your sleep ?" He asked with a warm smile .
I sighed , " it could have been better , that is why I need to have a word with you and papa " .
Mother , nodded and stood up from his crouching position. " I'll go get your aunt Lebo , to start a fire then we can talk , your father is training in the woods , go and call him".
I nodded and bid him farewell . I walked up to the woods and met up with my father . " Papa" I called out to him witch caught his attention .
" Son , what happened?" He asked me his face a bit stoic but I could see the gentleness in his brown eyes , that were similar to mine .
"Mama , sent me to call you , I have something important to inform you on". He nodded without any questions .
He took his spear in hand and followed me out of the woods . We walked for some time without a word .
It was always like that when we were alone. Like my father , I was not a man of many words .
The silence was never strange nor uncomfortable but it was calming . I liked being with my father for that reason .
We finally arrived at the meeting place which was always the bench at the back of the house .
Mother , was already sitting there waiting for us. " You too are finally here , I was about to grow old , just waiting for you " .
We both chuckled a little at that . We sat down and I began .
" I'm planning to get married on the day of the full moon at the end of the week ".
My father seemed a bit shocked but mother wasn't . " So that's what your great grandma , was going on about last night ". He confirmed.
"Yes " I said waiting for them to object or something . My father sighed . " Are you planning to marry Olwethu?" He asked curiously .
I nodded , " did he agree ?" He asked which made me silent . How could he agree when I basically gave him no choice in the matter .
" So your forcing him?" He asked now glaring at me . " Papa , it's not like that , it's a lot more complicated" .
"Son , please enlighten me " I nodded and began to narrate to them everything that happened at the river .
I also told them about sir Xolo , which shocked my father for some reason . " You mean Xolani , my elder brother?" My father asked to confirm .
I was confused at that . " What do you mean papa ?" He sighed once again. " A few years back I had three older brothers , not two " .
Me and my Mother were a bit startled by the new information . " Sir Xolo , is this true ?" I asked him . He just hummed in confirmation.
" He died mysteriously on the day of his 28th birthday , no matter how we tried to find out what killed him we could not " .
My father continued with a sad expression I rarely see on his face . " Sir Xolo , do you know what happened to you ?" .
" Young prince , I know not of what happened that night , all I remember is the pain as my vision went black " .
Things seemed to be getting a lot more interesting . I could not believe sir Xolo , was my first uncle .
" Papa , I'll find out what happened to him don't worry about it " he nodded and we got back on topic.
" I'll inform Nina , about all of this , I have a way to convince her to agree to give her son out in marriage " . I thanked my mother .
" I'll go and talk to the others about the arrangements , son I hope your ready to be a husband " my Mother said , looking at me proudly .
" Thank you guys for the support , may I know where chief grandfather is ? I have to speak to him urgently " .
My father pointed at the hut furthest from mine. I thanked him and walked to the hut .
" Chief grandfather , it is I Gift , are you resting ?" I asked outside the hut .
" You may enter Gift " he spoke in an elderly , soothing voice . I took off my shoes and entered .
He sat down on a comfortable mat and I smiled looking at his kind face . " Chief grandfather , may I have a word with you ?"
He nodded and smiled calmly at me . " It's about the queen mother , sir Xolo , told me I could get some information from you " .
He frowned and nodded , " my son was always wise before he died , tell me little one , what do you want to know ?" .
" Can the queen mother be reborn ?" He laughed hearing that which was a bit strange to me . " She can do anything with her powers , since you are here , has she already done it ?" .
I nodded now certain of my speculation. " I saw her , she is now Nosipho and Nosipho is her " .
He frowned at that . " She actually used Mbeki's sister's child as a versal ?" He seemed a bit shocked .
Mbeki , was Olwethu's grandfather's name . His elder sister died a few years back , she was already in her late fifties when she had Nosipho , by surprise .
Which is why although Nosipho , should have belonged to the generation of my father , she was no older than me .
" I can't believe it , they must have planned it as a way out for her , I should have known " he sighed now seeming to have aged a bit more than he already had .
" Rest assured chief grandpa , I will get to the bottom of this , but first I have to tie what's mine close to me " .
He finally smiled hearing that . " You finally decided to catch your prey ha" . I nodded and he laughed heartily .
I smiled and left his hut . Only to meet the gaze of my beloved Lolo .
" We need to talk Ukhanyo " seeing his expression I knew it was nothing good .
