Jeff entered his apartment after talking with the police for an entire day, he was so worn out and didn't know what to do about what he saw. He remembered it clearly, and he was so ashamed as a cop for what he told the other officers.
Flashback...
"So, exactly what happened" The officer said to Jeff.
"I-I don't know... I came here and just found him like this" Jeff said, still looking so warn out. Build his friend was their and felt sorry for him even though he didn't know what happened.
"It must have been difficult; he was your friend" Build said while patting Jeff on the back. Build was in charge of this case. "Did you see anyone?"
"No, I told you when I got here I was alone" Jeff said.
"Was the door locked?" Build asked. Jeff knew exactly what the question was. If he answered Yes, the door was locked, then they would suspect it was break in. But if he said No, then it could've been more serious.
"No, the door was not locked" Jeff said and Build nodded.
"Nothing from the cash register has been stolen, their seems to be no struggle and it just seems too easy" another officer said.
"Yes, have you checked the CCTV footage outside?" Build asked him.
"I checked and it seems the footage has been deleted" The officer said and Build frowned. Jeff looked down in guilt, he was the one who deleted the CCTV footage of both Barcode and his brother Ta entering the shop.
"Finger prints? Weapon?" Build asked the officer.
"No, nothing" The officer said and Build grunted in anger.
"This person is skilled, and if it was that easy that means it was someone he knew!! Since he showed no struggle, it must have been unexpected for him" Build concluded and everyone nodded. "This reminds me of that one case we did Jeff, where all those teens unexpectedly died"
"Ah yes, it is similar" Jeff said and Build thought about it.
"You said you saw someone on top of the mountain that day, can you describe him?" Build took out his notebook. "Maybe we can ask around if anyone saw him"
Jeff was a bit frightened, unlike Barcode it was hard for him to keep a straight face. "I-I... I told you that day I didn't know what I saw" Jeff said and Build frowned upon looking at Jeff's expression but just closed his notebook and sighed. Jeff was protecting Barcode even though he witnessed chef's murderer. Why was he doing this? Why was he protecting a criminal? A criminal who he... loved?
End of Flashback....
Jeff sat in the dark on his couch with hate, not hate for anyone but himself. He felt like he didn't deserve to be a cop, that all this hard work that he put in was for nothing. His heart was aching uncontrollably at the fact the man he loved did something unforgiveable. He was lost!
Jeff heard the apartment door open and he looked away. "Why are you here?"
Barcode was drenched from the pouring rain that was outside, he looked sick, he had a mark around his neck from what happened earlier with Ta. He wanted to desperately to explain things to Jeff. "I want to explain, what happened" Barcode begged.
