omg two paarts in one day. this is my apology for the radio silence with revision and racing I haven't had a lot of time to write. it also doesn't help that at a 4x national on the weekend I crashed and broke my collarbone.

Once again, the smell of petrol lingered in the air as Charles walked onto the race track that he and his close friends considered their playground. He carefully examined every inch of his car, ensuring that it was ready for the upcoming practice run.

Charles was an excellent race car driver, and he had been lucky enough to have the opportunity to follow his passion throughout his life. However, he was not alone on this track today as his best friend, Max, was standing beside him, looking at him excitedly.

"It's going to be another crazy race, Charlie," Max said to him brightly with a grin on his face.

Charles let out a small chuckle as they both dawned their helmets and climbed into their respective racing cars. Even the mention of the race brought shivers and excitement throughout his body.

And as the cars sped off into the distance, adrenaline coursed through Charles' veins as he maneuvered the car expertly around the track, striving to get ahead of his competition.

However, his mind was not solely focused on the race. Late last night, he received a call from Max, and to his surprise, his friend had broken up with his long-term boyfriend, Daniel.

Charles had known Max for years, and he had always been envious of how happy and in love his friend was with Daniel. For him, breaking up with his boyfriend was the last thing he had expected.

And while it was difficult for Charles to see his friend going through such tough times, he was relieved that Max had confided in him. He found himself taking on the role of a counselor, lending an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. Charles knew that he had to be there for Max throughout this challenging time.

As the race came to an end, Charles was more than satisfied with his performance. He hit the brakes abruptly as he pulled into pit lane, pulling off his helmet and taking a deep breath in.

"You crushed it Charlie, just like always," Max exclaimed, coming over to congratulate him.

Charles smiled and hugged his friend tightly. There was something in the way that Max held onto him that made him stop for a moment and take notice. However, he quickly brushed the thought aside and celebrated their win.

As the sun began to set, Charles and Max walked down to the local bar, looking for a relaxing evening with some drinks and a chance to unwind. They pulled up two stools and ordered their usual drinks before diving headfirst into a conversation about the race.

However, as they talked, Charles noticed that Max was quieter than usual. At first, he assumed that it was due to his recent breakup but then noticed that Max kept staring out the window, lost in thought.

"Hey, you okay?" Charles asked him gently.

Max's eyes met Charles, and he let out a deep sigh before finally confessing.

"I'm not sure what to do, Charlie. Daniel and I had been together for five years, and I thought everything was perfect."

Charles leaned forward, resting his elbow on the counter and nodded for Max to continue.

"But with the breakup, it just feels like everything I knew was a lie. I've been so lost since it happened."

Charles' heart swelled with sympathy and understanding for his friend. He knew the feeling all too well, being through breakups himself.

"I'm here for you no matter what, Max," Charles reassured him, placing a comforting hand on Max's back.

Max looked up at him with tears in his eyes, and in that moment, everything Charles had been feeling for Max surfaced. It was a mix of compassion, friendship, love, and desire. But he couldn't allow himself to act on it, not when Max was so vulnerable and heartbroken.

Days passed, and yet another race was upon them. Charles had seen Max since their last meeting but was still finding himself struggling with the emotions that were surfacing within him.

However, as the race began, he forced himself to focus and let the excitement of it drown out everything else.

Charles had taken the lead, and he was soaring at maximum speed, with the wind whipping past his face. He could hear his opponents breathing down his neck, but he didn't falter one bit. With one last burst of energy, he crossed the finish line first, the crowd roaring with applause.

He looked out onto the track, his exhilaration peaking until his gaze met Max's. In that moment, Charles felt as if he saw him in a new light, and as if by fate, they both got out of their cars simultaneously.

Without a word of warning, Max wrapped his arms around Charles, hugging him tightly against his chest. Charles felt a shiver run down his spine as he took in the scent of Max and felt his warmth seeping into his own body.

"I'm so proud of you, Charlie," Max murmured against his ear, and Charles felt his body respond to the sound of his voice.

He looked into Max's eyes, and they were both caught in this peaceful silence, lost in the moment of wonder and expectation. and then they closed the gap slowly.

charles looked into max's eyes scanning for some kind of sign  looking for any uncomfort. instead he found max's blue eyes staring back at him with the same intensity and passion and he whispered words of assurance to Charles.

max and charles' lips locked an d a moment of pure passion was unleashed and they knew in that moment things would change between them.
