14- Lucas The Ally

WILL POV-

Will looks towards the redhead who does the same. Tears pool in his eyes. He was terrified. One simply does not come out in Indiana; especially not in Hawkins.

If other people found out he would most definitely be a target for bullying or possibly even hate crime. Max placed a hand on Will's back, she eyed Lucas with the stern type of look that said 'hurt him and I'll kill you'

Lucas looked between the best friends, he finally spoke

"Don't worry I'm very down with the rainbow" he smiled trying to raise the spirit of the room. Lucas raised both of his thumbs giving an acknowledging thumbs up. Will's breathing hitched; he took a deep breath as Lucas came close. The dark-skinned boy envelopes Will in a big hug.

"I know you didn't mean to come out to me, but I'm glad you did! I'm super proud of you Will" Lucas whispered into Will's ear; nestling the scared boy in his arms. The chestnut-haired boy wraps his arms around Lucas, his breathing returning to a normal pace, but keeping his eyes squeezed tight. Another figure joins the hug. It was the redhead Max clinging to the two boys.

The hug continues for a few moments; no words were exchanged. Max and Lucas let go. Will let's out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He rubs his eyes wiping a stray tear off his face.

"So... you like Mike?" Lucas remarks sarcastically

"More like obsessed stalker you mean" Max jokes playfully punching Will in the side.

The chestnut-haired boy gazed at his two friends; it had always been difficult for him to talk to new people. He was always worried people would make fun of him; of his hair; his clothes; his personality. Worried that people would ditch him the moment they find out the truth about him. And here he was, he had made a new friend. A friend he only met yesterday but who already accepted him for who he was.

Will smiled.
