Most of Elara's life was public knowledge among those in the wizarding world, being the bastard daughter of the disowned Astro Black and fair Jasmine Evans. The only mystery that the papers couldn't seem to figure out was what happened to the girls mother.
Where had Jasmine Evans disappeared to? Many speculated that she had been taken by deatheaters, others believed Astro had seen the error of his ways and taken Jasmine out of the picture for good.
Only Astro, Leo and Elara Black knew what happened to the vibrant woman and it would remain that way for as long as possible. For years after the incident they locked themselves away from prying eyes. All the doors, all the windows, every floo connection they could find were sealed up. They hid from the rest of the wizarding world, for years until Elara's first year at Hogwarts.
The papers began to print old stories of the family and create even more gossip about them. This would continue through the years and only ever be interrupted by the newest scandal caused by Harry Potter.
Leo continued with his schooling at Durmstrang keeping limited contact with his father and receiving weekly updates from his sister of life over in Britain.
When Elara and Leo find themselves surrounded by both new and old faces, at the beginning of Elara's sixth year at Hogwarts, they knew that their time for secrecy was over and everything they had been hiding was going to come to light.
