The Perfect Summer Can't Last Forever

Chapter Six

Rossalina's POV

I drove to the hospital to see if Alyssa was ok. I saw her and my parents and nothing had changed. I went to get some food because I was starving and I was craving fast food french fries. I went to get some and ended up getting a burger too . I have been craving a burger and fries forever. It was only about one in the afternoon and I still had to pick up my brother at two.

I went home and rested for a little. Then at one fourty I got up and went to my brother's soccer tournament to pick him up. I saw him play for twenty minutes and his team won. We walked to the car and got in then I almost cried because I thought about telling Louis about the bad news. So I told him...

"Hey Louis?" I said I felt the tears filling up in my eyes.

"Ya?"

"Uhm I have some bad news..." I started to cry

"What's wrong?"

"Well you know how Alyssa is in the hospital?"

"Ya. Is everything ok?"

"Well no it's not. Uh Alyssa is in a coma"

"Oh my gosh! Do the doctors know why?"

"No they don't and that's what worries me. The doctors don't know if and when she will wake up."

"That's not good. Can we drive over to the hospital so I can see her?"

"Sure. But you may be shocked at what you see"

"Why like what's so shocking?"

"She has fluids and tubes everywhere and she looks pretty lifeless. I went to see her earlier and it's pretty shocking"

"Ok well I still want to see her."

"Ok but be prepared to be shocked."

"Ok."

I started the car and drove to the hospital. I parked the car and brought Louis into Alyssa's room and when he went in he gasped. There were several doctors surrounding her and my parents we staring at her crying and looking all worried. I was really worried I didn't know what was going on.

"We need to wheel her into surgery STAT that's the only chance she has of living." One of the older doctors said to my parents.

"Ok just let her live please." My parents both said in unison.

The doctors all moved and they put the bed so that they could roll her to the operating room. My parents went with them and came back after she went through the operating room doors. When they came back they saw us and started talking to us about what happened.

"What happened mom?"I asked worriedly.

"Her heart started to fail and the only chance of her living is to get a new heart"

"When did this happen" Louis asked

"About half an hour ago." My mom said.

I saw Louis trying so hard not to cry. Let me be honest with you I was also trying not to cry but it was so hard.

My family and I went to the waiting room and waited for what seemed like hours. One of the doctors finally came out and came to talk to us.

"Hi are you the parents of Alyssa?" the doctor said.

"Yes we are" my parents said.

"Ok she did fine during the surgery and she is in a recovery room. Would you like to see her?"

"Yes." We all said in unison

"Ok follow me." She said calmly

We followed her and as we walked through double doors to the recovery area she said

"She hasn't woken up and we arn't sure when she will because she might still be in her coma"

We walked into her recovery room and she still had tubes and IVs everywhere.

We sat by her bed for about half an hour and I saw her eyes flutter open. I was so relieved that she woke up. My whole family and I rushed over to her and sighed in relief that she finally woke up. She spoke and her first words were: "Mommy what happened?"

"Sweety you had open heart surgery your heart failed and you were also in coma. Do you remember anything before you were in the coma?"

"No I don't."

"Whats the last thing you remember Honey?"my mother asked

"I think I remember there was you and Rose and dad and I was in the hospital. Thats the last thing I remember" she said softly.

I went over and sat on the bed and wrapped her in a warm embrace. I missed her so much.

"Rose?"

"Ya?"

"Can you let go a little I still have all these IV things and they sorta hurt"

"Oh I'm so sorry sweety, I'll be more careful next time I hug you."

"It's ok Rose."

"Ok good."

"Ya and Rose I missed you."

"I missed you too Alyssa."

The doctor came in and pulled my parents out in the hall. I got up slowly but then Alyssa grabbed my arm and gave me the puppy dog face for me not to leave, so I stayed with her. Soon after the doctor came back in and examined Alyssa. She was doing much better.

"Your Majisty?" The doctor said

"Yes?" My mother responded.

"Can I get some blood samples from Alyssa to see if that showss us what might have been wrong?"

"Yes, you can"

"Ok I'll be right back" then the doctor left the room to go get the stuff he needed. I went to go sit by my dad and took out my phone and I saw I had two missed calls from Alex and three text messages from him. I texted him back and instantly got a reply we texted for a little while until the doctor came back with the blood test results.

"Everything came back negative, she has some low vitamin D levels but other thaan that everything is normal"

"That's good news!" My mother said but then quickly realized that nothing coming back positive meanss the doctor would have to look for something else. Her smile instantly fell and she didn't look happy anymore. We stayed in the hospiital a while longer but then everyone went home besides Alyssa and my mom.
