Chapter 4
Life is like a dance, dangerous
We went in the house. The smile on my face was bigger than usual
“So what’s all the smiling about?” Rainy asked me
“I guess I am going to a dance tonight! But I have nothing to wear.”
“Well I can help you with that. Did you see my closet?” She asked taking me away from Drench.
I looked back at him and did a little wave. When me and rainy got into the room full of clothes, she started rummaging through the closet.
“Drench what kind of dance is it?” She yelled down the hall
“It’s some sort of dress up dance. I guess" He shouted back
“Ok.” She said walking into the closet again “aha!” she said coming out.
She was holding a beautiful dress. It was mostly blue. but the very top was white. The bottom of the dress looked like waves. in the middle of each small wave was a little blue gem. There were also gems lining the top of the dress. and a white belt that goes around the waist.
“And this just in case.” She handed me a blue snap purse
“just in case?”
She didn’t answer my question. She brought out some beautiful high heels. With blue gems on the toes. And a beautiful blue necklace.
“It’s beautiful,” I said half sighing
“Go put it on,” Rainy said pointing to the room next to the one full of dresses.
I changed into the gorgeous dress and came out. I swirled in front of the mirror. Rainy gazed into it and so did I, it looked wonderful on me.
Then she started working on my hair. She tried many different styles. in the end we decided that the high bun was what looked best in my hair with the white streaks, it looked wonderful!
“Come on, it’s almost time for you to go to the dance.” She grabbed her stuff and threw it back into the overfilled closet.
We walked out into the living room. There sat drench on the couch. He was wearing some black shorts and a seashell necklace. He looked up at me. I straightened my dress
“Hi” I said pushing a piece of my hair that hadn’t made it into my bun behind my ear.
“Hi” he said a little stunned
“so are we going to go?” I said because I was feeling a little awkward.
“Oh ya sure” he got up and walked over to me
“May we go my lady” he said in a horrible English accent
“Yes we shall misure.” I said in a worse English accent.
“We we goodbye mommy.” he said as we walked out the door.
This went on as we walked towards the biggest building I have ever seen. it was huge. We walked right up to it, and through the doors. it was all decorate inside. it was all covered in sparkling lights, and blue and white lanterns. there was a disco ball. Instead of mirrors there were sparkly shells.
Right when we walked in the door we heard a familiar voice.
“Drench!” Dew ran out of the crowd. Her dress was very strange it was purple, because she said so. But it was the same sort of thing she had on this morning. But a bikini top and a longer skirt. With more sequins. It was like something you would see on dancing with the stars.
“Come on Drench dance with me,” she said as she shook her hips which even made me roll my eyes.
He didn’t even get to answer before she dragged him off onto the dance floor. That’s when I noticed that this was going to be horrible. Because I don’t even know anyone here. I just sat by the wall and drank punch. A few people came over and said hi to me. Others looked at me strangely. I had had been getting that look a lot throughout my life. I was sitting watching the wall when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I quickly turned around it was Drench.
“Hey” he said
“Dude I thought you would still be dancing with Dew,” I said turning around.
“Same here but she got whooshed away by one of the jocks” he laughed, his chuckle was cute!
“So do you want to dance?” He asked holding out his hand to me and pulling me up.
the song instantly turned to a slow song. Which made it a little awkward. But we just kept dancing. But instead of a simple jay step waltz. we got down into the spins and twirls like in Cinderella. It was wonderful I felt like nothing could break this moment. Around the end of the song we slowed down. I looked up into his blue eyes. We started leaning towards each other. I had never kissed anyone before, except some foster kid when I was 5. But it felt like the moment was slowing down. As we got closer our lips were almost touching…
