Chapter 5

What is going on here?

The wall exploded in flames. Burning from the bottom of the stage to the top. The fire went so fast that it was hard to tell what was going on, until after the wall was engulfed with flames. Most of the people ran out screaming. It worried me. I looked at Drench, who was trying to use his water powers to put out the fire. Why weren't all the people doing that? But the flames were huge.

That's when I saw the two large shapes, coming from behind the huge wall of fire. Drench must have noticed because he pulled a huge silver sword out of his pocket. How did that fit there?! But as the shapes came closer there was more detail you could see the shapes of two fire warriors big, bulky, and weird. I looked at Drench he looked at me. Holding up his sword he looked at the fright on my face. He shoved his sword in his pocket and ran. He grabbed my hand. And we ran out the door.

As we ran from the burning building I looked back towards it. There was no site of large fire warriors. I looked to drench who also looked confused. We kept running but we started slowing down. I looked at him disappointed. We almost kissed. The flourish of emotions going through me at that moment was unbelievable. It was like magic. We ran into the house. Rainy was standing there shaking, looking that the burning building.

"What happened?" rainy said looking at us, glad that we weren't died

"Come inside kids" she said opening the door

"So it just lit on fire like that?" Rainy said looking out the window at the burning building

"yes it was crazy!" I nodded my head slowly

"and there were warriors there" I said.

Rainy looked at me confused then at Drench who nodded. Rainy looked concerned

"I've never seen them before though!" Drench said.

"no they're the ones u saved me fro....." Drench covered my mouth.

Rainy looked at him

"You saved her from fire warriors?" Rainy glared at Drench.

"no..." Drench paused for a moment to think. " yes I did, I was in the ruins of the ice kingdom" he looked away "I'm sorry I just wanted to find something of dads. I know he is still alive" he said banging his hand on the chair next to him

"I'm sorry honey but your dad is dead"

"No he is not!" drench said trying to hold back his tears and ran outside.

Rainy just shook her head and looked at me sympathetically

"I'm sorry dear"

"Its fine" I said getting up and following after Drench, I stopped with my hand on the door knob. Then turned and walked outside. Drench was sitting on the porch moping.

"What's so wrong about going to the ice ruins or whatever?"

"The ruins of the ice kingdom" he scoffed at me

"I was destroyed in a battle between, the ice people and the fire people" his face was hidden in his hands so I could barely hear what he was saying

"So why is that such a bad thing?"

"Because my dad died in the war, that's why there is a stupid fountain for him!" he quickly stood up and looked away from me

"Sorry I didn't mean to...."

"Its fine" he said before I could finish my sentence

"But everyone says he is died but I just can't believe that he died, I can feel it he is alive."

My thoughts wondered to the feeling I've had for a long time the one that tells me my parents are somewhere and I need to save them.

"But I can't believe he is died I just can't" he looked at me my thought were wondering.

"Snowflake?" I shook my head.

"Sorry"

"Snowflake do you believe me?" he looked intently at me.

"Well he might be"

"well there is something I've wanted to do for a very long time and now that you're here I can" he sat down next to me the expression matched the look of a little boy who just had the most wonderful idea and needed me to play the dragon so he could slay me in one of his little imaginary games.

"We're going to run away" he said I looked at him

My mind whizzed with questions

"Why would you want to do that?" I shook my head. He has a good mom and food, a loving home. Why would he want to run away?

"To find my dad I've wanted to do this anyway and I feel you should come too. For some reason when you got here I knew it was time to do it"

I was startled I stood up

"So just get up and leave?"

He nodded his head

"You can't..."

He covered my mouth with one finger.

"I don't want my mom to know. She'd just keep me back" I looked at his face he was sincere he really wanted to leave with me

"Fine when are we leaving?" I still couldn't understand why he would want to leave. To find his dad who was most likely died.

"Tomorrow at 1:30 A.M" he then got up and walked to the door and walked inside.

I stared at the sand under my feet. Were running away to find his father. What is this going to lead to? I shook my head then walked inside.
