Weren’t you a lizard?

I slowly opened my eyes. The ashes of the fire from last night were floating around. Then I noticed something there was someone in lightning’s bed. They were more bulky than lightning is. I quickly stood up and backed up. Laying in lightning’s bed next to lightning was a boy. He had black hair. His skin was very tan. He was snoring quietly.

I walked over to lightning and patted her on the shoulder. She slowly woke up. I shook her vigorously.

“What? I…” I covered her mouth with my hand.                    

I pointed over to the boy. She squeaked. She slowly stood up and backed away.

“Who is that?” she whispered into my ear.

“I don’t know. I thought you did.”

“Well I’m going to ask him then.” She said stomping over to him.

“Wait…” but I was too late.

“Wake up! What are you doing? Who are you? And why are you in MY bed?!”

He looked startled. His green eyes darted back and forth nervously.

“Um I was a lizard”

“don’t make up stupid excuses!”

“but its true I am… what did you call me…? Cupcake.”

Lightning face turned pale. Her eyes became huge.

“You were a lizard?”

“yes I was. It was a curse.”

“what kind of curse” Lightning said harshly.

“I... I messed up, I didn’t know she was a witch i thought she was just an ugly old woman who was picking the kings flowers. Of course I had to tell her to stop, She looked at me with those harsh orange eyes.”

“Orange eyes?” i asked

“Ya orange they were like lizards eyes, she flicked out her tongue and started chanting...”he paused his breath starting to quicken.

“You don’t have to tell us.” lighting said as she sat down slowly. I went and sat next to her.

Suddenly we heard the sound of Drench’s tent unzip.

“Who are you” drench said rubbing his eyes.

“Oh hi I didn’t notice you.”

“Who are you?”

“Oh I’m granite. Serving boy for the prince of the earth people.” he bowed.

“Oh that’s nice.” drench said.

You could tell he was a little out of it. Knowing him he would be worried and mad. He wanted to be the Alpha male.

“Well let’s get going!” drench said standing up.

He started walking into the forest. I looked over at granite. Then I looked over at lightning.

“Hey granite want to come along we're headed on an adventure.” Lightning said waving to him.

“Sure!” his face lit up and he caught up to us.

Lightning’s face turned a little pink. I rolled my eyes. What’s so special about love?
