It was a bright, sunny day, and the light breeze made the curtains flutter gently, casting soft shadows across the room. But the man standing by the bed blocked most of the sunlight, his tall figure casting an elongated shadow that loomed over her. Yn found herself engulfed in it, the warmth of the sun cut off by Taehyung’s imposing presence.

As the weight of his words sank in, she slowly clenched the blanket beneath her fingers, trying to steady herself. "Pregnant..." she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. Her gaze fell to her flat stomach beneath the white blanket, where there were no visible signs of the life growing inside her. Yet, there it was—hidden, fragile, but undeniably real.

A faint glint flickered in Yn’s dark eyes, something shifting within her. She had wondered, suspected, but hadn’t had the chance to confirm her assumption before being rushed here. Now, hearing it from Taehyung, her heart swelled with the undeniable truth.

A subtle smile tugged at the corners of her lips, a spark of joy she couldn't fully hide. Despite the chaos surrounding her, despite everything that had happened, the knowledge that a new life was growing inside her filled her with an unexpected warmth. It was a fleeting moment of pure happiness, a glimpse of hope amid the storm.

Taehyung lit a cigarette, taking a long drag before exhaling slowly. The thin veil of smoke swirled around him, blurring the sharp edges of his features and adding a distant, almost untouchable quality to his already stoic presence. His eyes, half-hidden behind the haze, focused intently on her. "Are you happy about this?" he asked, his voice cold and detached, cutting through the moment like a blade.

Yn’s head snapped up at his words, her heart skipping a beat. The soft glow of joy that had momentarily filled her drained away as she met his gaze. The smoke cast shadows across his face, making him appear even more unreachable—dignified, unyielding, and far beyond her grasp. He looked like a man with no room for weakness, no space for anything that didn’t fit neatly into his plans.

The tender expression she wore hardened. Her grip on the bedsheet tightened as anxiety curled around her. "Mr. Kim..." she whispered, her voice trembling slightly, a nervous edge creeping into it.

How could she have forgotten? Forgotten that he had made up his mind to leave her, that Guinevere—the woman he truly cared for—was pregnant with his child. Yn felt a bitter twist in her stomach. She had been nothing more than a tool, someone he could use to fill the gaps when he and Guinevere were on the outs. She had known that. And yet, the brief flicker of happiness at the thought of a baby, their baby, had blinded her momentarily.

But how could he tolerate her carrying his child? How could he accept a child born from someone he considered nothing more than a temporary distraction?
