"Young lady, it's such a beautiful day, why don't we water the flowers?" Bai Zhi said.
"Okay," I said in agreement.
Bai Zhi and Zi Yan led me to the garden. It was so peaceful and picturesque, I almost forgot my problems. I smelled the daisies happily. "The flowers are finally growing!" I said excitedly.
Zi Yan laughed at my enthusiasm. "You've been in such a bad mood lately, and we were hoping this would bring you some cheer."
I hummed and moved to grab the watering can.
"So, this is where you decided to run off to?" A haughty voice said.
The smile immediately slipped off my face when Changle walked over. "Weiyoung, don't tell me you actually like daisies. They're so plain and uncivilized," she said.
"It is true that they aren't the most colorful, but they are still pretty and live the longest," I answered.
Changle sighed. "I suppose if you grew up in the mountains, they remind you of home. Are you close with Prince Nan'an?"
My brows furrowed in confusion. "Why would you think that?"
"I saw you speaking with him at The Crown Princess's banquet."
"Prince Nan'an and I met each other once before, but the two of us have no relationship."
"Sure," Changle said, like she didn't believe me. "Prince Nan'an is courageous, intelligent, and mysterious. Several noblewomen admire him, and I'm sure you feel the same way. But don't forget that he is a prince, and you should behave appropriately around him. Even if you don't care about your image, can you bear to see our family's reputation tainted?"
"Our family's reputation? I would never do anything to bring down the Li family. Unlike others who continue to throw themselves at Prince Gaoyong behind father's back."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I know you've been kissing up to The Crown Princess. Prince Gaoyong is the royal grandson, and his mother has been searching for a consort for him. Are you trying to gain more power for yourself?"
