Chapter Seven - Sickness

Phayu carried Rain into his bedroom, by now his body temper was so high that Phayu could feel the heat though Rain's clothes and his own.   He got the first aid kit out and took out a thermometer to measure Rain's temperature, "Oh shit!" Phayu said at the high reading.  He took some medicine and rushed to get water, "Rain, Rain!! Wake up for me" Phayu commanded, Rain opened his eyes and look at Phayu, it broke Phayu's heart as Rain looked like he was in pain.  "I have some medicine for you".  Obediently Rain sat up and took the tablets.  "Rain I need to get your temperature down, I am going to put you in a cold shower, is that ok?".

Rain just nodded his head and closed his eyes.  Phayu took him in the shower and stripped him down, and the ran the cool water all over Rains body, Phayu's own clothes got drenched but he paid no mind to it.  He put Rain in some of his clothes and put him back in the bed.  He took his temperature again, there was little change.  He wrote the figure down, he needed to keep a record.  Phayu ran his hands though his hair, he was stressed and wanted to take Rain to the hospital but Rain had instructed him not to do so.

Phayu went though Rain's belongings and found his phone, he used Rains face to unlock it and took a deep breath.  He called Sky and told him the situation and begged him to come.  Pai took over the call and told him that they will be there as soon as possible.

Phayu put a cool strip over Rain's forehead, it was then he noticed his clothes so he quickly changed them.  He grabbed a cloth and cold water and started to wipe Rains body down.  Every touch seem to hurt Rain.  Boss howled in Phayu's head, he could not talk with Rains wolf as it also seem to be asleep with a fever.   

The minutes seem to last hours, finally he heard his door bell ring.  He ran to open the door, and there stood Pai and Sky, Phayu reached out and grabbed Skys hand and pulled him in.

"Please, come. This way" he half pulled, half dragged Sky into his bedroom.  Sky ran over to the bed and looked at Rain.  He was so pale.  He looked at the area around Rain.  He could see that Phayu was writing down Rain's temperature, there was cool strips and cloth to wipe Rain down.  

Phayu picked up the tablets, "I gave him these" he gave them to Sky, who looked at them and confirmed that they were ok.  "I put him in the cool shower, but it did not make much of a difference"  Phayu was now kneeling next to the bed, holding Rain's hand and was watching his face.  "I wanted to take him to the hospital, but he begged me not to" Phayu looked at Sky and asked, "What's wrong with him? What should I do to make him better?"

Sky was trying to figure out what they hell was happening, the hospital comment caught his attention, "Rain is funny about hospitals, and he normally get worked up if he has to go to one that he does not know"  He lent over his friend, "If only we were at home, I could call Dr Bridge out" he signed.

"We can get a Dr here" Pai said, "Our uncle is a Dr".  He walked out to make a call.  Leaving Sky to observe Phayu.  He clearly has tried to help Rain.  He looks genuinely distressed and worried about Rain.  He was still kneeling by the bed, holding Rains hand and stroking his hair out of his face with the other hands.  He was whispering to Rain as well.  

In less than 30 minutes, Pai's uncle had arrived and had been given the run down of what had happened.  He kicked everyone out of the room and looked after Rain.

He came out of the room and gave everyone an update.  He had set up an IV for Rain, the IV also had antibiotics to help fight the fever.  Rain was very sick and if the fever had not broken in 48 hour, he would have no choice but to take him in to hospital.  He temperature needed to be taken every two hours until the fever broke, then he was going to need a lot of TLC.

Phayu hugged his uncle, "Thank you, I promise I look after him".  His uncle smiled at him and was placing things away in his bag, "So that's your mate?" He asked Phayu.  

"Yes, but please don't say anything to my parents" begged Phayu, "He has not accepted me yet, and you know how Pa is, he will steamroll him!" 

His uncle laughed, "OK, my lips are sealed" He then turned and said to Pai, "I take it you have the same request" He looked at Sky, who went bright red. "Uncle!!" shouted Pai

"Don't worry, I will not say a word, I will drop in again tomorrow" with that he left.  

Phayu went straight back into the bedroom and sat down beside Rain, not moving his eyes from his face.  Pai tapped Sky on the shoulder to get his attention, "Look its going to be rough until your friends fever brakes, let me get some clothes for you and we can all camp out here"

Sky was surprised at Pai's kindness, he walked into the room to be with Rain while Pai went to get him some clothes.  Sky sat on the other side of the bed,

"This is my fault" Phayu said, not taking his eyes off Rain's pale face. Sky looked at him, "Why do you say that?" he asked.

"I frightened him.  I knew he was gonna go to that classroom today, I even left food there so I knew he stay late.  I got too close, he got frightened.  He kneed me so hard in the nuts!" Phayu managed to let out a small laugh at that, "He ran because he was scared that I would be angry.  I did not know he was unwell, he seemed to be fine, but while running away, he just fainted.  I was so scared" 

Sky looked at Phayu, "Wait! what?" he stuttered, "You knew he would be there?"  Phayu nodded. "And you decided to try your luck and got a knee to your privates?", again Phayu nodded. "Well sounds like justice to me" Sky said, he looked at Rain with pride.

He looked at Phayu and signed, "Look, Rain does not normally get sick, but when he does its bad.  What's worse is that you don't see it coming.  Its like he has a little cold and then, bam!, your dragging his unconscious body back to his mother".  

Phayu looked at Sky, "It sounds like your reliving some drama", Sky laughed, "Rain is stubborn, and sometimes that's not good for him.  He does not like to appear weak in front of others"  Sky stopped realising he was giving away too much about his friend. "He will be ok, just a bit weak after this" Sky comforted Phayu.

Just then Pai came back in the room.  he had already changed and gave Sky spare clothes.  Phayu offered his bathroom for him to change.  

Then the four of them watched a sleeping Rain fight his fever.
