chapter 10

Mission Day 1 week after infected ghouls

You where walking down the hall way towards the hoards of ghouls who where going on the mission. Its been a week and over half of the ghouls that were infected where either worse or dead. Luckily Minx was holding up still. Dr. Oteiku said that the cure was somewhat finished but that it would still take a long time to finish. You see Ayato with his hands stuffed in his pockets like usual. "Okay listen up!" shouts Ayato. "Your all going in your groups of three if your not a full team hook up with those who aren't as well. Once your teams are assembled head out to your check point. Each team leader has a radio you will keep in contact with those." Ayato gives the instructions. You and Blanca look around seeing if any ghoul wants to hook up with your team.

"This is stupid we should be able to go no matter how many on a team" mumbled Blanca as she brushes her hair back. "Well its our orders and besides..it wont be that bad" you say trying to reassure her..but you weren't even sure your self. "I'll join you" you turn around seeing Porpora standing behind you "no way old man" you say. "I can help..I have more experience with CCG officers if they show." "Is that why you got captured?" Blanca retorts "Look we appreciate that you want to help but please for your own sake stay and help find a cure" you say trying not to sound rude or anything.

Blanca and you both sigh as you can't find anyone to join no that you want anyone to join you either. "Find anyone? (YN/)?" you hear Ayato as he walks up to you. "No. Can't we just be a team of two? do we really need three?" you ask "I'll join your team if need one more" you raise an eye brow "you have a team." you sigh "we'll just go as a team of two." you mutter.

Blanca and you waited at the check point with Ayato's team. You where twirling around the radio when it went off with Eto's voice cracking threw. "Okaay time to start" she squeals Blanca starts walking and you walk behind her when someone grabs your arm. "Ayato?" you turn around "be careful." he hisses then lets go you nod and smile then hurry to catch up with Blanca. Blanca and you where going to get the files from the other team that is if they are still alive. Tatara sent a message to them either they get it or not. the land was all abandoned. The ground was all dirt and rock abandoned smashed cars surrounded the area you stood in the middle of it all. Blanca was ten feet away from you. other teams where hiding in the crumbled houses and cars.

CREEAAKK

You hear a sound from ahead when you see someone walking towards you slowly. "Is it clear?" the person asks you nod he walks up to you until he was 4 feet away. "Your here for the fi..files?" he asks he noticed he stuttered and put up your guard "Yes. you got our message?" you ask seeing if he will tell you if it was his team or CCG...you glance around. Something was off. "I'm...I'm sorry" he says you glance back at him. Before you knew it the ghoul was opening his coat up to reveal a bomb "I'm sorry!" You quickly run around "RUN!" you scream 3.2.1........The blast throws Blanca and you back cars went flying. Making you black out from the impact of the car you hit.

You slowly wake up your head throbbing. You didn't wake up in your room. or the medical room you woke up in a cold damp place? You see pipes above your face. "He...hello?" you mumble you slowly turn your face seeing your hand handcuffed to a pipe. "No way...am I captured?" you try escaping the handcuff. Failed that. You hear foot steps coming your way. you quickly look for a knife but you couldn't find any on you. You slowly look up seeing a girl there. You could smell her scent that she was a ghoul. She slowly kneels in front of you and pulls out a bag from behind her and puts it in front of you. "Who are you?" you ask. The female ghoul pulls out a plate and a sandwich. "here you go" she says handing it to you. "Th..thanks?" you stare down at it. The girl turns on a lantern lighting the damp room. She had to be close to your age. Her hair was green and was in a messy bun on her head. she wore jeans that where tucked into brown leather lace boots. She had a black half jacket on and under that was a red tank top. She had red bobby pins on her bangs that went on the side of her face. (Like Juzuo) "Whats your name?" you ask but instead the green haired ghoul smiles. You look at the sandwich knowing you can't eat it. "I can't eat this" you say as you set in on the plate. Maybe she isn't a ghoul after all you put your guard up. Making her laugh "its not a normal sandwich...I know your a ghoul" she says as she bends down towards you and rips a piece off. "Watch." she plops it in her mouth then swallows the opens her mouth and shows you nothing inside. "See. Harmless!" you slowly take a small bite and swallow. It was...really good. "WOW how in names?!.....I what the....oh my gosh!" you gasp as you eat more. Your stomach didn't hurt at all. "Told you it was harmless" she says as she unhand cuffs you "sorry...can't be to careful now a days." You rub your wrists. "How...did you save me?" "It got real bad you where swarmed with CCG after the bomb went off, Your lucky you where hit with impact then the blast." she says as she sits beside you. "Thanks..." "your welcome!" she takes the plate and puts it in the bag again. "You can leave whenever you want!" she says then stands up...she kinda reminded you of Minx her outfit and her face? "wait whats your name?!" you ask again struggling to get up. "I'm Neem Fukigami" she says then does a salute to you and jumps down a into a drain pipe.

Ayato POV

I couldn't find (Y/N) after the bomb went off I saw her fly into Blanca and then I couldn't find her. My heart felt like it was being suffocated I ran down the hall ways of Aogiri hoping someone brought her back or maybe she escaped to here. I saw Blanca getting a bandage around her arm. "Blanca!" I shout and run towards the white haired ghoul. "Ayato!" she gets up and faces me. "Have you seen (Y/N)!?!" you both shout at the same time "No" you both repeat again. "Where the hell is she?!" you look out the window and see a familiar ghoul walking back.

"(Y/N)!" you shout. "Ayato?!" you hear her reply. "Oh my gosh I thought you where dead!" I hug her tightly making sure she isn't a illusion (sorry if that is spelled wrong) "Its okay...I'm here I'm okay" she says calmly and she hugs me back. Yeah that's right you better freaking hug me. "Don't you ever do that again!" I snap at her flicking her forehead as I back away from her. "Ouch! jerk" she growls. I rather be a jerk then you being dead.

Ayato wrapped his arm around my waist and walked me into the building. "Blanca!" I see Blanca with her arm all bandaged up. "Are you okay?!" I ask as Ayato lets go of me "Yes I'm fine how about you! you where gone for almost 3 hours!" Blanca asks. "I'm totally fine! a ghoul saved my life." You end up explaining all that you remember after the bomb went off. You told them about the amazing sandwich and how Neem Fukigami saved your life. "What a weird name" Blanca whispers. "Like your name is any weirder?" Ayato mumbles making Blanca glare at him. "I owe this Neem a thank you" Ayato says as he sticks his hands in his pockets. "So do I..you have no idea how important you are to us (Y/n)! and too Minx as well!" Blanca says as she hugs you and Ayato joins in which kinda creeped you out since he isn't really a hugger. "You keep getting hurt I think we should keep you off missions" Blanca jokes. as Blanca and you walk to your room. "Ha. Ha. Ha. very funny" you retort. You see your mom in front of your door. "I heard what happened! are you okay!" she says with panic as she looks you over head to toe. "I'm fine. I promise" you say smiling to reassure her that your perfectly okay.

It was probably midnight and you where looking into a window that separated you and the infected. You stared down at Minx her skin so pale she was officially a albino. She had so many monitors and the medicine that was slowing the process down strapped into her arms. "Hey." you jumped when Ayato spoke behind you. "Gosh you scared me!" you gasp as you shake your head. "Sorry?" he stands beside you. "She'll make it" Ayato reassures you as he puts his arm around your shoulders. "I know" you mutter holding back tears. Minx was like a sister to you an annoying...sister. And Blanca would be the older sibling and then there was Ayato....your love...you knew he wouldn't ever fall in love due to his past life...and he was also already stressing over his sister Touka. She worked in Anteiku. "What is the point in fighting for Aogiri if this is the end all of us meet." you whisper "what do you mean?" Ayato asks "I mean..name one person you know that has lived to be a senior here who is mental. in jail, or dead." you say. Ayato is silent. "I've lost friends here..and I'm losing friends now..and I can't freaking do anything" "Minx will make it she wouldn't die like this." Ayato mutters. You curl up close to Ayato not caring what he thought or if anyone saw. His warmth made you feel..safe..you never feel safe anymore...you sucked up the warmth from him and smile and say something that he probably wont ever hear. I love you Ayato.
