An Adventure for Two || XiaoLumine

The last Shogunate soldier was lying on the ground.As Guuji Yae walked over to me after taking down the soldier on her side, she smiled at me.

"Can you see any more of them?" she asked.

Taking a look around me, I replied, "No.".

It was then that Guuji Yae said something to me that I didn't catch.When I followed her gaze, I saw Lumine lying in the center of the plaza, unconscious, with Paimon standing by her side, shaking her as she lay there.

"Traveler! Wake up!" she said.

"Paimon, what happened?" Yae Miko asked.

Paimon then summarized what she saw, starting with how she got captured and woke up in a dark space. She also told us how she found Lumine with the shogun and drove the sword through her. Guuji Yae looked worried about this news. Come to think of it, she said she knew the shogun personally once.

"Now, shouldn't we get Lumine somewhere safer than this? A crowd is forming." Paimon said.

"Yes," I said, lifting Lumine into my arms.

We ran back to the teahouse from the plaza and were met with Kamisato Ayaka and Thoma's concerned faces.

"What happened to her?" Thoma asked.

"I'll explain everything." Xiao put her to bed. You may stay with her if you wish." Yae Miko instructed.

I walked into our room and set Lumine down. I sat next to her and watched over her for about an hour. There was a quick knock on the door and Paimon flew in, sitting next to her.

"Xiao? Do you think she'll wake up soon?"

"It's difficult to tell."

"..."

"Xiao?"

"Yes?"

"What happened while I was gone?"

"Well, Lumine returned to Liyue badly injured and stayed with me until we returned here and we've been here for a few weeks."

"It's my fault..." She looked down.

"What do you mean?"

"I was the reason she was hurt. I tried to distract the Shogun during our first battle with her. That was when she captured me and I had to watch Lumine almost get killed trying to get me back." She started crying quietly.

I moved closer toward the two of them, lying on Lumine's other side.

"Hey, Xiao?"

"Yes, Paimon?"

"Ayaka said that a festival would be coming up soon to celebrate Youkai. Do you think Lumine would want to go?"

"I think she'd love to."

"And you'll come with us right?"

"I will go anywhere for Lumine."

She laughed. "You're such a simp."
