Y/n's pov
As I rushed out of the party, heart pounding and cheeks burning with embarrassment, I felt his eyes following me. But I didn't dare to turn around. I was embarrassed by what had just happened. I couldn't believe that I had almost kissed him in front of everyone, and the thought alone made my stomach twist into knots. I had to get away to clear my head. As I turned a corner, I suddenly felt someone grab my arm. I panicked and quickly turned around to see him, my childhood friend who I hadn't seen in six years. His eyes were full of emotion.
As his hand released my arm, his voice filled with concern. "Y/n, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you," he said, his eyes bright as they met mine. "Nanase," I whispered, my heart beating a little faster at the sight of him. "You're here too?" He nodded, a small smile forming on his lips. "Yeah, I'm on Aomori's football team." His eyes ran over me, and I couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious. "You know, I almost didn't recognize you," he said, letting out a soft laugh.
My cheeks flushed with embarrassment. "Really?" I asked, feeling a little joyfull."He nodded, still grinning. "Yeah, I mean, we haven't seen each other in six years. Where did your glasses and braces go?" He said and let out a giggle. Shaking my head at the memories. "You seem to still remember my ugliest phase." I said He laughed, and my heart skipped a beat at the sound of it. "You looked cute with glasses that were almost bigger than your face," he said, and I couldn't help but feel a little fluttery inside. "You haven't changed at all," I said, smiling up at him.
He returned the smile, his eyes sparkling. "Yeah, yeah, I know." He said, returning the smile As we stood there, he suddenly asked, "But why did you suddenly rush out of the party?" I shrugged my shoulders, avoiding his gaze. I didn't want to tell him the real reason why. Just then, the loudspeakers blared, announcing that it was almost midnight and everyone needed to head back to their dorms. We walked in silence, the night air chilly around us. I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that we didn't get to talk more, but maybe there would be another chance I hoped.
Timeskip to the morning🔥
Y/n's pov:
I woke up the next morning feeling groggy and disoriented. As I slowly sat up in bed, memories of the previous night flooded my mind, causing my cheeks to flush with embarrassment. I couldn't believe I had almost kissed him in front of everyone. What was I thinking?
I got dressed and made my way to the dining hall for breakfast, trying to shake off the embarrassment. As I sat down at a table with Yumeko and Mary, Yumeko immediately noticed my mood. "What's wrong?" she asked,
concern etched on her face.
I hesitated for a moment before finally confessing. "I almost kissed someone last night, in front of everyone," I admitted, feeling my cheeks heat up again.
Yumeko's eyes widened in surprise. "Who?" she asked, curiosity evident in her voice.I shrugged. " Isagi Yoichi. He's on The Aomori football team," I said, trying to recall what he looked like.Mary chimed in, "Oh, I think I know who you're talking about. He's been getting a lot of attention lately." I nodded, feeling a mix of embarrassment and excitement. "Yeah, that's him."
During breakfast, the loudspeakers made another announcement, stating that all students would be divided into mixed teams and compete against each other. Yumeko, Mary, and I exchanged excited looks. "I can't wait! I hope we end up on the same team," Yumeko exclaimed. However, Mary was a bit skeptical. "It's unlikely, considering we're all from the same school. We'll probably be grouped with others," she said. Despite her comment, I remained optimistic and urged us to hope for the best. After all, we didn't want to end up with a team of useless players. My friends chuckled at my remark. Yumeko then suggested that we wear our sports uniforms so we could easily identify which team we're on.
As Mary went to pick up something and Yumeko walked off to see her boyfriend, I found myself alone. Suddenly, I felt a presence looming over me and looked up to see the fierce girl from the football match. Before I could say anything, she asked me to join her team. I was taken aback and asked her why she wanted me on her team. "I thought you didn't like me," I said. She replied calmly, "Not really." I was curious and asked her what changed her mind.
Her piercing gaze didn't waver as she spoke. "I don't have to like you to recognize your skills on the field," she said bluntly. "I need someone who can keep up with me and push me to be better. And from what I saw, you have potential."
I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, I was surprised that she would even consider me for her team after the way she had acted towards me before. On the other hand, I was intrigued by her offer. I had never played on a football team before, but the idea of pushing myself to new heights was enticing.
"I'll think about it," I said, still a little unsure. She nodded, her expression unreadable. "Don't take too long, I don't like waiting" she said before turning on her heel and walking away.
As I watched her go, I couldn't help but wonder what her motives were. Was she just looking for a strong teammate, or was there something more to her offer? I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I didn't have time to overthink things. I had a decision to make, and I needed to make it soon.
