The limousine pulled up outside of the luxurious mansion, the door opening and revealing three people, stepping out onto the pavement.
One woman had long ginger hair, cascading down her back in loose curls. A white mask encased her eyes, encrusted with diamonds with a deep red colour coating her lips.
Her hand was intertwined with a man's, a mask covering his full face. His suit was a deep navy, hands and neck covered in tattoos.
Then, another man stepped out, a mask covering only his eyes. His body was clean of tattoos, no jewellery matching his all-black suit.
Those people were Amara, Azaiah and Elias. The masquerade ball helped with their disguises, but they still had to hide any trace of who they really were- which is why Amara was speaking in an uptightly posh accent, Azaiah in an Australian one and Elias in an English one.
Their plan had to work, which is why they knew it couldn't be ruined by something as simple as their appearance giving them away.
"Split up and locate Darius in an hour. Watch out for any others involved in the Mafia," Elias spoke quietly and they all silently agreed before splitting off.
Amara and Azaiah looked at each other for a moment, showing their love through their eyes. Elias had done it by leaving Natalia his rings, and also telling her just short of a million times that he loves her. He needed to know that she knew that.
Amara walked towards the bar, sitting down on the stool. Flagging the bartender over, she ordered the most posh drink she could think of- a Martini.
"Oh, I'll have one of those too," A voice spoke from beside her, Amara's breath stopping immediately.
Keeping an unphased expression on her face, she turned to see Eliana, dressed in such an expensive gown. Amara never expected to see her here.
"You have good taste," Amara commented, feeling sick to her stomach that she was interacting with her. However, it was all a part of the plan- she can't be caught.
"No, I used to hate them. But my boyfriend bought me them so much that I got used to the taste," She responded as the two Martinis were pushed in front of them.
Amara froze, remembering she forgot to actually bring money. A complete rookie error.
"Put it on my tab," Eliana told him and the bartender nodded, walking away.
Maybe luck was on her side today.
"Who is this boyfriend of yours? I go to a lot of events so I may know him," Amara admitted, trying to act as unsuspicious as possible and it was working. Either that, or Eliana was completely dumb and oblivious.
"Oh, I'm not sure that you will know him," Eliana replied and Amara shrugged.
"Worth a shot," Amara commented, moving her head closer to her. "Besides, you're the only person at an event I've been to who isn't a complete snob."
Eliana laughed, and Amara did internally. Eliana was the definition of a snob. Definitely a bit-
"His name's E-Darius," Eliana finally confessed, and Amara only hoped the mask had concealed how wide her eyes grew just then.
"Romero?" Amara asked, trying to act as dumb as possible.
"Yeah, do you know him?" Eliana asked, completely unaware that she was talking to his niece.
"I've talked to him at an event before, I think," Amara lied and Eliana's brows furrowed.
"Are you sure? He isn't really big on events," Eliana commented and Amara shrugged.
