Lying there, sprawled on the floor was..Emily..
She was clutching her belly, her fingers red . A wound caused there by the bullet from which a trail of thick red blood was seeping out from under the fabric of her clothes.
She was desperately trying to hold on to her dear life. Natalie's mind was a blur as she ran through the crowd ignoring any protest. She sat beside her friends body. Emilys eyes seemed to have gained a little bit of life..her blank eyes shimmering a little on seeing her friend.
Her breath was hitched as she cradled Emily's head on her lap and tried to calm her down... possibly herself too. Natalie felt people around her, someone was trying to console her. Maybe it was Derek? ..Ethan? Somebody else? She didn't know. Nor did she want to at the moment.
Suddenly police came on the scene and dragged her away. All she saw at the last moments was someone being cuffed and taken away. She never saw the face of the...coward behind hood but her anger and tiredness gave away away to exhaustion..

"...lie!....."Nata..ie.. NATALIE!"
She awoke with a jerk at the loud sound. The first thing she sees is a blinding white light..."am i..dead?" But that thought persishes after a moment as her eyes concentrate.
Blurry figure...s.. then "!!" It was Derek , Ethan and one other. A woman who she recognised as Emily's sister - Leah.
She tried to sit up but immediately regretted it. She wasn't hurt but immense fatigue and that sudden shock from earlier made her such. Derek put a hand under her head to support it and placed a soft pillow "It's better you lie down.."
She shook her head. "What...what happened? Emily..??"
Ethan looked at her and said directly "She's..hurt. In the stomach. Doc said-" Derek punched him and scowled. Then turned to Natalie and said more softly "She's..alive. After you recover-" but Natalie cut him off "N-no im..I'm fine now. Thank god she's..." She let out a sigh of relief.

After 10 more mins of resting Natalie was finally stable enough and ready to go. They all went to see Emily in her ward.
Emily was awake when they arrived. Natalie immediately hugged her tight. "How are you feeling..?" Emily have her a weak smile "I'm good..but you should really take care of yourself.."
Natalie shook her head , her initial shock now turning to confusion and anger. She inquired "No first tell me...what the hell happened out there??"
Derek looked at Emily and said "well that...is for her to explain."
They sat her down and let Emily explain.
