"What if he doesn't actually like me? I mean he's like really powerful, right? He can do a lot of crazy magic. So, what if he thinks I'm weak. All I can do is control the damn wind," Aer panics as we wait for Liam and his friends to walk over.
"You know? It is getting windier out now that you are panicking," Maxine comments. Khaleesi and I give her a not right now look. She puts her hands up in defense and shrugs. Aer stops pacing, sits down, and takes a deep breath. The wind slows and everything seems to calm a little.
"Look. I'm sure Liam thinks you're really cool. Right, Phoenix?" Khaleesi says looking while trying to make Aer feel better.
"Yeah. He wanted to ask you out for a while now actually. He was just to nervous to say something," I comment patting Aer on the back.
A second later, Liam walks up with his friends in tow.
"Hey loser. Why did you...," Liam starts and then looks at Aer and stops his face turning bright red.
"H-hey Aer. I haven't seen you for a while," Liam stutters nervously. I smile at Maxine and Khaleesi with a knowing look.
"Hi. Uhh.. yeah my parents and I went to visit my grandparents by the beach," Aer looks up at Liam with blush running up their cheeks. Wow. This is awkward.
"How about you two go get food for the rest of us while we wait here at the table, yeah?" Liam's friend, Mariana, suggests to them. They look at her, back at each other, and nod. Aer gets up and walks with Liam to get food.
"Well, I think that went well," August, another one of Liam's friends, laughs.
"And a little awkward if you ask me," Maxine comments as Liam's friends sit down. She's one to talk with that huge crush on Khaleesi, but I digress.
"Liam couldn't stop talking about how much he really wanted to ask Aer on a date when they visited you guys in the summer. He also said he didn't regret not asking either," August continues saying from before. I tell them everything that Liam told me from over the summer and they tell us about what Liam told them on the phone. We eventually go into what we did over the summer and what classes we have this year.
Once you know what kind of magic you have, you get special classes to learn how to use it. My friends and I all have some sort of elemental magic. I have fire, Maxine has water, Khaleesi has earth, and Aer has air. Liam has divination, as well as Mariana and August. That's how they became friends. Amais is sort of like cupid, if you know what I mean. He is able to get people to start dating. He has people paying him to do it too. I don't actually know any of his friends though. There's also electives we can take, like History of Temple School of Magic and Sorcery and How to fly and take care of dragons(Khaleesi and I loved that class. We're taking the second elective for that class).
Liam and Aer finally come back outside with our food. Something definitely happened while they were gone because both of their faces were bright red when they came back. No one said anything though because we all know Liam enough not too. Aer wouldn't be to embarrassed if we asked a million questions about what they talked about, but Liam would. Though, a good sign is Liam making August and Mariana move over so he and Aer can sit next to each other. Neither of them said anything, but we didn't ask anything about it either. I almost asked Liam about about what they did while they were getting the food, but decided it wasn't worth embarrassing him in front of his new partner. Wow. I didn't think I'll be getting the taste of admitting that out of my mouth. Ughh. I hope Liam doesn't expect me to say that out loud.
"Well, Mariana and I should get going. She promised to help me unpack," August says with a smug look on his face. I look at Mariana as she groans. Liam laughs and says,
"Make sure he doesn't do anything to my side of the room. I don't want a repeat of last year."
"What happened last year?" Aer asks. Liam looks at them with the most sickening look of love on his dumb face.
I roll my eyes, "August put-"
"Don't tell them!" Liam yells at me before I could finish. Aer pouts and looks at Liam. August and Mariana get up from the table and walk away.
"I wanna know though. Please!" Aer begs Liam.
"No. I'm not going to tell you. You are never going to know what happened to all my clothes," Liam says.
Liam closes his eyes for a minute and sighs. "That bitch is going to help him destroy my shit," Liam groans and gets up. "I'm going to stop them."
He looks at Maxine, Khaleesi, and I then leans to Aer kisses them on the cheek. They both blush and Liam runs after his friends.
"Wait. How did he know that his friends were going to destroy his things?" Maxine asks.
"Yeah. That's what your focusing on right now. Your friends got a boyfriend and your worried about how Liam knows about his friends ruining his things," Aer says sarcastically.
"Ignore her. So. You're dating my brother now," I say teasingly.
"Y-yeah. I won't if-"
"Oh come on! You've had a huge crush on him for years. Plus, I think he'll finally be happy," I interrupt Aer before they can get the rest out the rest of his sentence. They smile and blush even more than before. "Not to damper the mood, but how do think Amias is going to react to this?" Khaleesi asks. I look at him and roll my eyes.
"Oh God. What will he say? He's never really liked me you know." Aer panics.
"Don't worry about what Amias thinks. He's never happy with a relationship he didn't help with," I reassure them, "And. If you want, I can tell you what happened to his clothes last year later."
"So, we're just ignoring my question then?" Maxine says.
"Oh my gosh. He knew because he can see the future, remember? His magic is divination," I say slightly annoyed leaning forward to look at her better.
"No need to be rude," Maxine says looking at me.
"I'm not being rude. I just think we should be more focused on the fact our friend just into a relationship with someone that actually likes them back," I say. She rolls her eyes slightly.
"She's right you know,' Khaleesi points out.
"No no. It's okay. I don't need all the attention on me," Aer says face going very red.
"No. The attention is going to be on you for a few more minutes. I want you to know that for years Liam has taken a liking to you. He never asks about these two," I tell them.
"What do you mean he doesn't ask about us?" Maxine questions me.
"I just mean that he doesn't ask about you two as much as he asks about Aer. He sees you two more than he sees them," I tell Maxine.
"Well, that's because we actually have parents that let us see out friends outside of school," Khaleesi remarks. Aer looks at him with a little offence.
"Well, it's not my fault my parents are just used to being secluded from people their age. If you're going to blame anyone, blame my grandparents."
"Yes because you never use your grandparents as an excuse that you never see your friends," Maxine jokes. Aer sticks their tongue out at her and she does the same thing to him. I'm surprised they haven't become friends with each other by themselves. They became friends because I became friends with Maxine, and Khaleesi became friends with Aer. Khaleesi and I became friends after we were forced to hang out with each other when we were little. I first met Aer when Khaleesi brought them to hang out with Maxine and I.
"How about we stop talking about my parents and how much I see you guys over the summer," Aer suggests and Maxine whines a little but agrees.
"What do you think our school year will be like? I think this year is going to have more excitement than before," Khaleesi says. We look at him a little confused.
"Why? It's not like anything ever actually happens. This school is fully protected from anything that could harm it," Maxine says.
"I don't know. I just got a feeling," He replies with a shrug.
"Well, maybe it's just one of those feelings," I say to him. He nods and purses his lips.
"Maybe you should ask Liam if he'll see anything," Aer jokes. I laugh a little and Khaleesi rolls his eyes. I pat him on his back and get up.
"Let's go walk the dogs, yeah?" Maxine instantly agrees and we start towards the door. It's going to be a great school year.
