Class ended with a promise to Professor Hayes that I would talk to him next class. I start my way down the hall, and back downstairs for my next class. Spells was always one of my favorite classes. We learn a new spell every class and we get to practice the spell for the whole class. It helps that we get to work with partners if we really wanted too. I get to my class on the first floor and walk inside. I look around to see that nothing has changed since last spring. I walk towards the windows and take my usual seat.
A minute later, a girl sat at the desk next to me. She had long, bright red hair, and freckles seemed to be dotted all over her face. She leaned over and rummaged through her bag for a second, and pulled out a fan. I smiled a little at that. I should have known that she wasn't a fire elementalist.
"Hot?" I ask her, chuckling. She jumps a little and smiles.
"Yeah. It's warm in this building. I was really hoping my spells class would be in the Earth building," She says. I smile at her slightly.
"I'm Phoenix," I tell her putting out my hand.
"Floriana," She smiles taking my hand and shaking it. We start talking about class and she tells me that she is an Earth elementalist. She says she's really good at growing plants, especially flowers.
"My mother likes the way our gardener grows the flowers in the garden. You should come and see it some time. I think you'll really love it." I tell her with a smile. Her face glows with excitement.
"Really? What kind of plants are in your garden?"
"Uhhh... Oh! Roses, lilies, irises, violets, fennel, sage, rosemary. We also have cherry trees and Abla Chaste trees. There's others that I can't think of right now, but they're so pretty." I tell her and her eyes get so excited and she smiles wide. "Here. I should have some pictures on my phone."
I take it out and start scrolling threw my photos to look for ones of the garden. I find one I took of flowers, with a bench, and the small path. I flip my phone towards her, and tell her that she can scroll to the left a few photos. Her smile stays just as wide as before as she looks at the photos. A minute later, she hands me my phone back.
"Alright everyone! Let's learn some new spells this year, yeah?" Miss. Weaver claps at the class. The class goes quiet and looks forward. I look over at Floriana, then reach into my bag to grab an index card and a pen. I write down my number, and fold it in half. Before I could hand the card to Floriana, I feel her tap my shoulder. She puts a sticky-note on my table, and I see her number and written on it. I look at her trying not to burst out laughing. I put my card on her desk, and she unfolds it. She smiles as well and takes out her phone. A minute later, I get a notification on my phone.
Unkown: Hiii
Unknown: Guess who?
I smile and give her a small look. I create a new contact for her with a little flower next to her name.
Me: heyyy
Me: get off your phone lol
Floriana🌸: wow lol
Floriana🌸: What would your mother say about you texting in class
Me: oh please
Me: this is the last thing my mother is worried about. she's more concerned about my brother becoming king when he eventually kills her
Floriana gasps a little and the boy next to her give her a look. She mouths an an apology.
Floriana🌸: Omg. I didn't realize you had a bad relationship with her
Me: oh no! I have a great relationship with my mother.
Me: i'm sorry. my mother and I make jokes about him killing her all the time.
Me: i'm sorry!!!
Floriana🌸: oh. good. does your brother like those jokes?
Me: i think at first but eventually he stopped finding them funny
Me: i think he thinks that she's starting to believe them
Floriana🌸: loll that's kinda funny
"Phoenix. Floriana. Stop texting please. I know we're not starting anything, but that doesn't mean you can text while I'm talking." Miss. Weaver scolded. We look at her, and put our phones away.
"Sorry." We say in unison. I smile a little at that, but we pay attention for the rest of class.
The bell rings a half hour later, and we start packing up our things. I wait for Floriana to finish packing up her things. We walk out the door without saying anything until we get to the hall. I start laughing and she follows suit. I wave my hand in front of my face to try to control myself. We walk back outside the building.
"So. Do you have anymore classes this morning?" She asks me.
"Nope. I'm gonna go back to my dorm and take a nap."
"Where is your dorm?"
"The west building. Why?" I asked
"Because I was wondering if we would maybe hang out before my next class." She says tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. I blush and look down for a second.
"Never mind. It's stupid. I'll just go my dorm." She rushes out, and turns to leave.
"Wait! Wait." I say grabbing her wrist. "Yeah. Yeah. We can hang out in my dorm. Let's go." Floriana smiles and puts her hand in mine. I lead the way to my dorm and we talk about her next class, which is Flowering Ashes. I was a little horrified until she explained it's not as gruesome as it seems. I continue to ask about her classes as we walk. Students that are sitting outside with their friends, watch us as we walk past them.
"Why are they looking at us?" Floriana asks nervously.
"Probably because you are holding my hand." I tell her causally. She looks down at her hands, and immediately removes her hand.
"Sorry. I didn't realize my hand was still there." She blushes. I shrug it off and grab her hand again. She blushes harder, which is the cutest thing I've ever seen.
We unlock my door and open it for Floriana to walk inside. I walk in after her and close the door behind us. Bernard and Echo jump off my bed and runs over to me. I lean down and give both of them plenty of belly rubs. I stand back up and look at Floriana. She's turning around taking in the room. I walk over to my bed and flop down on my back. She laughs and walks to my bed and flops next to me. I turn on my side and look at the side of her face. The freckles are dark on her pale face. There's a couple that kinda look like a little heart tattoo on just below her right ear. She turns on her right and pokes my nose. I smile and poke her nose back. We lay on my bed and talk about our classes until Floriana has to go to leave for her next period. Her favorite classes are her fruits and vegetables and growing flowers classes. I have never seen someone so passionate about their classes before. Of course, I care about my classes and my grades, but Floriana gets so excited about her classes. We stayed like that for about thirty minutes before Floriana had to get to class.
"Do you want me to walk you to your next class?" I ask her outside my dorm room door.
"I should be alright. Thanks though," She replies with a smile. "Well, I'll you see you Wednesday."
"Do you want to, maybe I don't know, go hang out sometime? Maybe?" I ask her nervously. What am I doing? Of course she gonna say no! Why would she say yes? "I'm sorry. That was really weird. We just met. I'm sorry." O.M.G! Stop talking! You're embarrassing yourself.
"Yeah. Of course," Floriana laughs, and I can see a slight blush to her cheeks.
"Does next Saturday work for you?"
"It sure does Princess," She says, then turns and walks down the hall to the flight of stairs. I close my door and start jumping up and down, with excitement. I haven't been on a real date since Lilly. I jump back over to my bed, and belly flop onto it. Before I could revel to much in that fact that I potentially have a new girlfriend, Aer runs into the room.
"Oh my gosh. I'm so glad your actually here," They say as I get up.
"You have no idea what just happened! I have a date!"
"Cool. I love the fact that you are finally getting over your ex, but this is more important," Aer tells me with a serious look on their face.
"What happened? Are Maxine and Khaleesi okay? Is Liam okay? Are you okay?" I ask, my voice getting more panicked as I go on.
"No one is hurt, but Liam's in the medical wing." Aer tells me with a look of worry.
"What?!" I yell and start towards the door, and Aer slams the door behind us. We run down the hall and out the door on the first floor, and all the way to the medical wing.
I rush into lobby of the medical wing with Aer on my tail. Aer guides me to the stairs and we go up the steps to the third floor. We run down the hall until we get to the room Liam was in. Amias and Liam's friends were already sitting in the room. I walk to Liam's side, opposite of my little brother. I turn to August ask him what happened. He says that they were walking out of class and he passed out. Amias tells me he already called Mother and Father. They weren't going to be here for a couple of hours though. I sit on the chair beside the bed and bounce my leg, waiting for the doctor to come in.
