Chapter 1 - When World Rises

SYNOPSIS:

After the initial break up of the Winglets, every member is separated and returned to their own lives. Lapis, the recent recruitment of the team, has always wanted to help dragons across Atlas, but the fall of the team has heavily impacted her life. Her days with the Winglets are over, but her plan to help dragons remains.

[SCREEN TITLE: 4998 AS]

[scene begins with two IceWings sitting and having a conversation with each other inside a tent. The IceWings are sharing a pot of hot soup. The female IceWing stands up, and she puts the empty bowl on the ground. The male IceWing is stressed as he tries to speak with her]

BERG: So we're not really sure that the SandWings are completely up for this? Blaze could we sending us into a suicide mission.

FROST: I haven't got any words from any of them.

BERG: There's something going on with Blaze. Frost, the meetings? And then what happened at Casiago?

FROST: I know you missed him. [pauses for a moment] But Hypite is gone. [walks over to Berg and lays her head against his] Her Majesty puts her loyalty on Blaze, we don't have any choice.

[Berg covers his face with his talons, and he groans in exasperation. Frost grabs both of Berg's talons, and the two dragons meet eyes]

FROST: It's out last week, okay? Then we're out of this for good. [thinks for a moment] And then we can start the life you've been telling me. Does it sounds good with you?

BERG: We've been in this war for four years, I can't do it anymore. I saw the pain in the eyes of dragons I killed, and I have to watch my own dragons die in front of me. My own family.

FROST: It'll be over soon.

BERG: Maybe sooner than we think. We take this mission tomorrow, we won't come back. Frost, just listen to me. We don't have dragons, and we're fighting a larger war against dragons we have no idea about. [sighs and blurts] If we go with the rest of them, we'll die. I don't want to continue this conversation, but Frost... I-

FROST: Yeah?

BERG: I like you. And I won't forgive myself if I'm not having this conversation to stop you from going. I want to live with you, and die a meaningful death. [looks on the ground] If any of us goes, we're giving it all away.

FROST: Berg... I already pledged my loyalty to Queen Glacier.

BERG: But it doesn't have to be that way, because you have a choice. Frost, we're fighting meaningless war for nothing. You're giving your life for a tribe not ours. Your future don't depend on who you serve, you gotta make it. [pauses and looks at Frost] We have a chance to get out of here right now.

[Frost doesn't answer, but she just stands there and looks at Berg. The two dragons stare at each other for a moment, and they embrace. Frost whispers into Berg's ear]

FROST: If we run, the IceWings will hunt us down. We won't have anywhere to go.

BERG: I'll find a way. Do you trust me?

FROST: Okay... let's do it.

[SCREEN TITLE: 17 YEARS LATER]

[Lapis is sitting in a bar with another IceWing, and both of them talk about what happened at Eternity a month ago. One of the dragons arrive at their table, and they put two glasses of tea on it]
