The moon was like a flashlight in the cloudless night. I slowly turned my head to look at my right. Duke was asleep, snoring. His silver hair reflected off the moonlight. At that moment, I felt truly gifted to have brunette hair.

The breeze carried a sweet scent of grass to inhale. The leaved trees added beauty to the surroundings. I was comfortable, like nothing was wrong. Like nothing could ever go wrong. Bry asleep by my side, Anne snoozing beside Duke who was asleep while sitting. I wasn't tired. In fact, I wanted to go explore for just a bit, but I couldn't. Bry was asleep by me... I looked at her. She seemed so peaceful while she slept. I brushed the stray hairs that dangled in front of her pale face. A small grin spread across my face. Bry was different from the rest, but why? I don't understand what I like about her... She's just a regular girl. No one could ever make me laugh like her, make me feel so special, make me feel embarrassed to mess up. The idea of being by her side for the rest of my life didn't bother me. I think I would enjoy being by her side.

With those thoughts fresh in mind, I drifted into a sleep.

"Wake up, wake up! Violet is gone!" Anne panics. Her loud voice made that morning already unbearable. "She's gone!" Flickers of light dashed across my closed eyes. She must've been pacing all morning.

Duke grumbled into a wake. He didn't sound too happy to hear her voice so early, too. "Will you shut up, Anne? She probably went to go pee in the forest or somethin'."

"No, idiot!" Anne immediately slapped Duke. "Wake up, she's supposed to be here but she's not! Why else would she run away? I called her for ten minutes and she never came! Something is wrong!" Anne began to hyperventilate. She needs to chill before she hurts herself. "Violet isn't the type to just get up and run off! Something must be wrong. She's in danger..." Anne began to bite on her fingernails.

"Anne, we'll find her," Bry piped in. Her eyes swirled with determination. Well, I guess there's no way of just relaxing today. "She probably got lost."

Anne didn't seem calmed by what Bry said in the slightest. Honestly, thinking about this situation didn't cross my mind. It's too early in the morning to worry. Especially about my sister. I mean, she hasn't even discovered her powers. Everyone else says that she was supposed to get her powers first, right? Why worry now if she can't even use them? It seems pointless to me. Those thoughts were better kept in mind, though. If those thoughts ever slip out, I'd probably be slapped by everyone. Especially Anne and Bry. Imagine if I insulted them? Most likely something worse than a slap... They'd probably touch my hair. That would be pure torture!

"Ugh... You... You guys don't understand the seriousness of this issue, do you? You guys are so ignorant of it!" Anne blurted. Her cheeks flushed red in anger.

"Okay, okay," I butt into the conversation. Things were starting to grow out of control. "We'll go on a search for Violet. If by night she doesn't emerge from wherever she's hidin', we'll come back to the original spot. Okay, does that make you feel better?"

Bry seemed timid while she nodded. Duke just rolled his eyes as he yawned, exhaling a wretched stench of moldy cheese. Anne seemed somewhat relieved by the choice I suggested, and agreed. That day has only begun to grow dandy!

Hours passed on our hunt for Violet, but no results. There wasn't any tracks they could pick up on. Anne bawled her eyes while slouched against a birch tree. Her afro-like hair shading her face. Bry tried to hush Anne in a mother-like way. This only made Anne cry more..

I let out a frustrated sigh. We were never going to find her at this rate.

"Where the heck could this girl be?" Duke says with a trail of silence following behind. "There's no clues, no nothin'!" He bent to pick up a rock. He chucked it at one of the distant trees. A loud crack cackled a second behind. "What are we going to do?" He says in a grouchy tone. I agreed with him, what are we going to do? Violet is apart of the prophecy, and without her... What would happen? Will the whole universe explode without the help of one mere girl? Probably.

"W-" Anne breathed. "W-We can't g-give up on her!" She sniffles. "Violet is the chosen one, along with Kris! They have to be together in order to complete their quest! It's impossible to do it on their own!"

"Violet could..." Duke grumbles.

"What?" I say, a bit shocked by his response. What an ugly m-no, I will not result to cussing. Not yet. "I'm strong; what's wrong with me?"

Duke shakes his head. "Nothing, boy, you're just too overly attached to your hair. You love it more than Bry. It's so obvious you have a crush on her!" He chuckles.

Bry didn't seem to hear, but I definitely did. "Look here, you better keep your freakin' mouth shut before I shut it for you!" I whisper loudly, my pointer finger facing him. "I've had enough of your bullcrap!"

"Calm your manboobs, Kris. It ain't the end of the world," he scowls at me, then leaves abruptly. "Brat..." He coughs, then steps over to help Anne with her recovery from sobbing.

"I'm not even fat!" I glared at him, but he didn't respond.

We finally gathered our acts, and started on the search yet again. I swear if I stay any night longer with his presence near me, I'm going to snap. He treats me like a nine year old. I'm fourteen! I don't need this kind of treatment from an old, greasy-haired, pot-bellied, man. He needs to pay more attention to his hygiene rather than my problems. It'll help him in the long run.
