My world spun like a spinning-top. What was I going to do without Bry? Even though she didn't exactly like me the same way, probably, it didn't mean I still didn't have feelings for her. Now that she's gone, I feel lop-sided and confused. Why is life testing me? I already have enough to deal with. Like a crabby sister and a smelly drunk old man. As well as a bossy 'mother-like' person. They annoyed me, but I still needed them.
I returned that night. My arm was still throbbing with pain after it being broken on the stairs during a tussle with Hayden. A boiling rage started to arise within me, but it cooled back down. He was also injured. There was no point in bothering the poor kid. After all, he doesn't want to lose to the Sexiest Beast Alive again. I wonder how Violet feels about this? Maybe she doesn't? I remember leaving her when she was asleep...
The night cloaked throughout the land. A glistening moon hung high in the sky, out-shining the rest of the stars. It was a pretty sight. If only Bry was here to see it with me. "I've returned!" I shouted, slamming the door shut behind me. I looked down at the ground. A WELCOME mat sat on the old, wooden floor beneath my feet. The same place where Zeke stood, threatening me with Bry. I clenched my teeth and tightened my fists. I will find her and bring her back. No matter what it takes. I'll go with or without Violet. If she won't come with me, then it's her loss. Hopefully she'll understand.
My feet hopped up the stairs. Voices emerged from Violet's room. A faint, candle-light illuminated the large room. I could see green curtains swaying gracefully as small drafts flew into the open window.
"Kris?" One voice questioned. I recognized that voice. It was Anne's voice. She pushed out of her chair and came running out of the room. Her heels clicked wildly against the wooden flooring. I felt arms wrap tightly around. Especially around my broken arm. I flinched and tried to pull away, but she only hugged tighter. "I thought I lost you! For Heaven's sake, where have you been? Hayden's been conked out the entire day!"
He has?
"Oh." That was the only word I could muster up. Anne had a look disappointment directed at me, expecting more of a response, but what was I supposed to say? Oh, I punched Hayden's nose because he was annoying the crap outta me.
"What happened..?" Said Anne, looking down at me. She immediately noticed my limp arm an went frantic. "What the heck happened, Kris? I thought-... That ruckus with you and Hayden..." Now a scowl spread across her face. She looked thoroughly upset and angry. I've never seen her this way before. "You two got into a fight and it got worse, didn't it?" She exclaimed. Anne was flustered beyond her limits. Her face was a beet red color. I slowly backed up, afraid she might hit me. You never know with Anne.
"I-Well, he started it. If he hadn't of-" Anne cut me off with a booming voice. I'm sure that both Duke and Violet could hear her bellowing rage.
"I DON'T CARE WHO STARTED IT, KRIS! WE ARE SUPPOSED TO STICK-" I cut her off this time. Now she was being inconsiderate.
"WELL, MAYBE IF YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION FOR ME ONCE IN YOUR LIFE INSTEAD OF VIOLET, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT HAYDEN PISSES ME OFF! THE ATTENTION IS ALWAYS ON VIOLET. SO YOU NEVER CARE TO KNOW HOW I FEEL! IT'S ALWAYS: VIOLET THIS, VIOLET THAT!"
Anne gawked at me. She couldn't believe I said what I just did. Hah, did I shock her.
"Kris..." Her voice became serious. The flustered look in both her appearance and body language fled. It was more comforting now, but I didn't want her pity. I didn't need her pity.
When Anne tried to hug me, I pushed her away. A look of her spread across her face. That just made me feel worse than I already did. Anne sighed, looking down. She obviously felt guilty. Guilt was the goal I was shooting for.
