I woke up to a pale man with menacing crimson eyes, midnight hair, and long, crystal white fangs. He was smiling evilly, like he was going to eat me. I screamed, covered my neck, and with my legs being free - kicked him off the bed. not paying attention, my body hit the floor, a pain in my head and my arm. Everything swirled, like when I found the herb, and I heard Kris's voice:

"Wreck the hair first thing you wake up, why don't ya?" He sassed, the vampire standing up and rubbing his head, but he had Kris's hair. I felt dizzy as he looked towards me, his fangs receding and his eyes becoming blue. He shrunk in height and yelled, "Holy crap! Your eyes!"

I was too confused and stunned to reply. I blinked, squeezing my eyelids together, again, and one more time, and it was Kris. It was always Kris. What happened?

"Why did you kick me?" He asked, seemingly hurt, rubbing his arm and continuing to fix his hair. "If you wanted some more space, I could have just moved over. In fact, I could've used these amazing new inventions called legs, and walked out of here!"

"I-I'm.." I stumbled, at a loss for words and strength. I couldn't even stand.

Kris looked concerned. But then again, it was blurry. He crouched down and moved the hair out of my face. "You okay sis?"

"Anne.." I mumbled, trying to snap out of it. "Get... Get Anne..."

"And? Pet Anne?" Kris questioned, one dark eyebrow rising slightly higher than the other. "I think you've lost it. I know Anne has cool hair, but I'm not going to pet her, sorry."

I shook my head.. "GET."

"Oh, get Anne!" He said, and flipped his hair, rolling his eyes. "I knew that."

He rose and walked out of the room, the floorboards groaning and squeaking as he walked. His loud footsteps booming downstairs, they became quieter the farther away he got. What just happened? Suddenly, he stopped.

"Watch where you're going Kris!" I heard Anne yell. Her next words sounded shaky, "What was that boom? And why did Violet scream like that?"

"I don't know what was going through her mind, but I'm really starting to assume she has Schizophrenia!" Kris said, sounding concerned.

"Oh shut up, she does not have that." Anne retaliated, and I heard footsteps going up the stairs, Kris's heavier and following behind her. There was a loud BANG! as the door swung open and hit the wall, wiggling violently.

"Oh good, you're up." Anne pointed out the obvious, ignoring the fact that she almost destroyed my bedroom door again. She walked over to me and sat down on the floor, gazing into my eyes. "Her eyes aren't green like you said." She looked over her shoulder, her dark curly hair flipping over her shoulder.

Kris shrugged. "They were definitely green. They were glowing, Anne. Glowing."

"Oh whatever, your's glow when you use your power." I retaliated, finally catching my breath. I hugged myself and tried to stop myself from shaking. I looked up and Anne looked like she was about to pass out. "What?"

"Glowing green eyes." She repeated monotone. "DUKE!"

Kris covered his ears and cringed. "Jesus, Anne!"

"DUKE! GET OVER HERE!" She screamed again, stumbling up and running out the room. "DUKE!"

I made eye-contact with Kris, who had taken his hands off his ears. He looked like her was going to cry, but he was holding it back. He nodded once. "It's going to be okay." He whispered. "Please don't fall asleep."

I don't remember the last time Kris was worried about me, and showed it, but I didn't take the moment for granted. I nodded back. 'Don't fall asleep.'  Those three words meant so much right now, more than I ever thought they could mean. I think the next time I close my eyes to sleep... I won't wake up.

Suddenly, I was attacked. Hayden had swooped me up, and sat me upright on my bed. His eyes met mine, and he looked extremely concerned. "Were your eyes actually glowing?" He asked.

Kris face palmed. "She can't look at her eyes unless she is standing in a mirror, genius."

Everybody was surrounding my bed, and I started to feel like I would hyperventilate. I felt trapped, and I didn't have much space to move around. Everyone's eyes were one me. Honestly, I didn't care about Hayden right now. I just wanted Kris by my side. But I didn't say anything, because that would be embarrassing.

"Shut up Kris." Hayden snapped.

"I-"

"Do you know what this is?" Anne interrupted me, turning to Duke.

"I-"

"Shadow Dweller." He replied. "It's the scariest thing that could happen to a girl with so much Soul Energy."

"I-"

"Why just a girl?" Bry asked. "Not guys?"

"It's bad for both, but girls have more mood swings because-"

"WE KNOW." Bry cut him off. "But what do mood swings have to do with her eyes glowing and attacking Kris?"

"Mood swings are dangerous." Kris and Hayden said simultaneously.

"BACK UP!" I shrieked, breathing deeply as everybody interrupted and ignored my other gentle comments. Everybody looked around at each other, but did nothing.  "I said back up." I commanded more sternly. Bry was the first one to step back. Anne was second. The boys didn't move, which made me very angry.

"Oh my god!" Bry shrieked, beginning to cry from fear. Out of habit, Kris looked to see what was wrong, but quickly turned back around and made fists. Hayden raised an eyebrow at him and Kris glared.

"Is this-?" Anne started, but Kris interrupted her.

"No. This is much different."

Why were they all looking at me like I was a monster? I looked down at my hands, which had become pitch black, and my legs looked like ghosts. My stomach sank, and I grew ice cold as I watched myself return to normal. I looked back up.

"That is what I meant." Kris said, pointing at my eyes.

"I'm dizzy." I stated, trying to lay down.

"No!" Kris yelled, and shoved Hayden out of the way. Hayden stumbled back as Kris bent over my face, almost crying. "Please don't go to sleep, please!"

"I.." I stumbled, hardly able to distinguish Bry from Kris. "If I don't wake up..."

Suddenly, there was a sharp pain on my left cheek, sending my face to look to the right. Everyone started screaming at Kris, but he ignored them, growling, "Don't you DARE say you won't wake up! You will wake up, even if I have to kill somebody to do it."

"Don't.." I whispered, my eyes fluttering. "I can't..."

He slapped me again and jerked me to sit up. Hayden came and pulled Kris's arms back, holding his thrashing body away from me.

"You're only making it worse!" Duke screamed.

"DON'T TOUCH HER AGAIN!" Hayden bellowed, yanking Kris back by the hair, Bry ran out of the room sobbing, and Anne was shell-shocked.

Right before I passed out, I heard Bry shriek, and I saw two figures at the doorway, one holding the other hostage, and a familiar, "Hello."
