I lay there in shock, watching as Veronica gets whisked out the door. My mom and dad rush over to me, my mom grabbing my hand and my dad wrapping his arm around her shoulder. I start crying and I bring my knees up to my chest, starting to shake. My mom wraps her arms around me, squeezing me tight. My dad does the same and we stay like that for a couple of minutes until we hear someone gently clear their throat in the background. I jump, looking at the source of the noise. It is Jaclyn and Shalie, the two doctors from before. Shalie walks over to my bed and sits on the edge of it. She is very small and petite, so she doesn't take up that much room.

"I know that what just happened is a lot to take in. But Veronica is in great hands. I promise you that Keria is the best in that field. Now we need to focus on you Hailey. We know that you are in a lot of pain right now. We also realize that you were wanting to put on a brave face for Veronica, but she isn't here right now. You can finally let go. It's time for us to help you." I nod, a tear rolling down my face.

"It really does hurt a lot. How are you gonna help me?" Shalie nods, standing up.

"Well, we need to get you into a different room in a different ward, then we are going to examine you. From there we can see what needs to be done to get you feeling better. Are you ready to go?" I nod, grabbing the sheets of the bed and squeezing. She walks over and gets my bed ready to move. Everything gets set up and she starts pushing the bed, leading me out of the door. My parents follow behind as we make it to the elevator. I close my eyes, taking deep breaths. Someone touches my hand and I flinch, opening my eyes. My mom is standing there, looking at me with concern in her eyes.

"Sweetie? Are you ok? Is there anything I can do for you?" I shake my head, looking down at our hands.

"It's just hard Momma. I don't know what to do anymore." She smiles sadly, a single tear rolling down her face.

"I know that you don't, sweetie. And you aren't going to know what to do for a while. But you will. You and your sister will always have each other, and you will always have us too. Right now, you just need to focus on what you can do. Which is getting better. And it is going to be a long journey, but I know that you can make it through this. You just need to focus on one thing at a time. Can you do that?" I nod, tears starting to fall down my face. My mother squeezes my hand as the elevator door opens. I take a deep breath, squeezing her hand back. The walls in this hospital ward are a deep purple, with floral paintings all over the walls. It is quite calming, and I am able to breathe easier. We head down the hall a little ways before turning into a room. The room is the same purple as the hall outside, but inside of the room, it is covered in butterflies and photographs of nature. I smile, a singular tear rolling down my face. The doctors push my bed into a corner of the room, locking it into place. They turn back to me, smiling sweetly. Shalie comes to sit on the edge of the bed again, placing her hand on my ankle. I flinch slightly, not being able to stop myself.

"Now Hailey, we need to examine you. We have to examine you down there, where all of the pain is coming from. It's up to you who you want to have in here. I will be the one doing the examination, so I will be the only doctor in here. But you can have either of your parents leave if that's what you want." I turn to my parents, trying to hide the fear from my eyes.

"Dad, I love you, but could you please leave? I don't want you to be here for this." He nods, walking over to me and placing a gentle kiss on my forehead.

"Of course sweetheart. I will be outside. You can tell your mama when I can come back in. Ok?" I nod, smiling softly then turning back to mom. She replaces where dad just was, grabbing my hand and squeezing it gently. Dad exits, closing the door gently behind him. I turn back to Shalie, who is smiling up at me.
