Dislocation (A Steven Universe AU)

Im Still Here

(This takes place around season 4-5)

       "GARNET!!!" Steven yelled excitedly as he jumped out of bed trying to land on the woman's afro. But to his confusion she turned around right before he even said anything and caught him. "Nice try." the tall woman said holding him in the air with her hands supporting him under his arms. "How did you know?" Steven said confused but still giggling at the same time. "Future Vision." She put the laughing boy down before the door opened, it was Pearl coming back with groceries.

It didn't stay happy forever.

As he hugged the pearl, an uncomfortable feeling in his gem appeared, it began to glow and he stepped back a bit. He and he alone heard a voice. "Pink... Diamond's... Pearl..." The voice stopped. "D.. Did you hear that?" Steven said, Garnet and Pearl were confused. "No Steven... what did you hear?" Pearl asked confused as she put the food on the counter. "It said... Pink Diamonds Pearl." He admit. Garnet tilted her head confused whilst pearl stopped in motion, with her back facing them and her hand on the counter, her other moved up to her mouth, she began to shake. "Pearl..?" Steven said as he took a step forward confused, the pearl gulped. "Thats.. Odd..." She said before speed-walking towards her door. As it closed behind her she collapsed on the ground, hyperventilating. "It can't be... how does... how does the gem know who i am..." She said, looking at her shaking hands.

"Garnet! is Pearl okay?" Steven asked whilst gripping his shirt, hoping she was okay. "I don't know... i never seen her ac-" Suddenly Garnet was interrupted by Amethyst. "What's up.... oh.... bad time?" She said, Realizing the tense situation. "No... well... It's just Pearl." Garnet said, following was Steven's description. "My gem felt weird... i heard something... Pink Diamond's Pearl.. i told Pearl and she froze and walked away... Garnet... do all Pearls know all i Pearls?" Steven said confused and conflicted. "No. i'm certain all Pearls don't know all Pearls, including our Pearl." Garnet sat down and looked at Amethyst. "Well... where is pearl? In her room?" Garnet nods. The Three sit in silence... Thinking.

~~Hours Later~~

"Hey Steven... i didn't see you today." Said Connie as she entered the house of the Crystal Gems. Meanwhile Steven was on his bed watching Lonely Blade, but he looked depressed. "Hi Connie." A short sigh followed, Connie, knowing Steven a lot, walked up the stairs and sat next to him. "Wanna talk about it?" She said with a positive attitude. Steven hesitated, but began to nod. "It's just... My gem... it spoke to me... it said... Pink Diamond's Pearl.. i think it said more but i couldn't hear it... i told everyone and Pearl freaked out, she began shaking and then left." He then quickly followed with how he felt. "I'm not a little kid who couldn't go on missions anymore... i still am a kid but.. I just want trust." He said as small droplets formed at the corner of his eyes. Saddened by this, Connie hugged him. "Wanna go to Fish Stew with me?" Connie offered. Steven hesitated again before smiling. "Okay!" The two of them walked out the door and around the mountain, meanwhile Pearl walks out of her room, more composed. She stops in the middle of the room, and says very quietly to a empty house. "It was so much easier next to your side... My Diamond... My Rose..." *A few tears dropped, but she wiped them away and walked to the warp pad to do laundry on the statue of Obsidian's hand.*

~~Later that Night~~

After finishing up, Pearl went back, but she was met with two faces waiting for her, Amethyst, and Garnet. "O-oh hello you two..." Pearl said awkwardly, still thinking about earlier. "Pearl we need to talk." Garnet said as she looked at Pearl softly, following a "We're worried" coming out of her lips. "Worried about what?" Pearl asked, in a shift to this uncomfortableness she began to fidget with her thumbs staring at Garnet. "Why did you act like that... I mean... i wasn't there but it sounded... Weird." Amethyst said, not smiling. "Act like w... look... i can't tell you why." Pearl looked down at her feet after she said that. "WHY NOT!" Garnet said angry standing up, her ruby taking more control. "BECAUSE IT WAS THE LAST ORDER OF-...... i'm sorry." Pearl walked away again into her room. Garnet, standing there angry began to lose form. "Garnet Garnet relax!" Amethyst said, placing a hand on her shoulder, which seemed to calm down the almost unfusing gem. "Look... whatever is happening with pearl... we will get through it... together." Amethyst said, Garnet sighed and hugged Amethyst before walking to her own room, Amethyst followed.

On the way home, Steven and Connie were talking. "I can't believe Ronaldo did that!" She says, laughing hysterically, Steven follows with his own laughter. Suddenly, Connie takes Steven's hand, looks at him and lets go as she hugs him. "I guess we're here." She said standing in front of the temple. "Hey Connie... Thanks.. I really needed this." He hugs her after saying that, she eventually walks off, Steven walks up the temple and into the house, it seemed to be empty, He called out names "Hey Pearl...? Garnet... Amethyst??" But nobody answered. He took off his flip flops and got into his banana pajamas, he went upstairs and laid in bed.

But sleep wouldn't be easy, he couldn't stop thinking about today. But he tried to get tired, so he went downstairs to run his face in a hot towel. As he wipes his face, his eyelids getting heavy, the door opens and he immediately rushes out of the room. "Pearl..?" He said her name quietly. Pearl was walking out awkwardly but as she saw Steven she forced herself to relax. "Hello Steven! I guess it's night time huh." She said, Steven opened his mouth ready to talk about earlier, but remembered her reaction, as his mouth closed he decided to open it one more time. "Yea... i'll see you tomorrow pearl, Good night!" He laid in bed feeling more tired, and also relieved knowing pearl was fine. As pearl was about to get on the warp pad, Steven already asleep, a faint voice filled the silent house. For then it said something that sent pearl shivers down her spine.

"I'm still here."

Pearl, knowing what it was, panicked and left the house immediately.
