CHAPTER FOUR

I'm again swallowed by my own solitude as I lay staring at my wall. No one's checked on me since my Dad came in. It's been two hours.

Surprisingly being alone in a house full of eight more people feels a lot more soul crushing then being the only person home. People have the chance to end my loneliness yet no one cares enough to bother.

If it weren't for the promise of Caleb, I would've ignored my sadness and gone to sleep hours ago. I'm beginning to loose hope of seeing him tonight as I keep telling myself he'll be here soon, but the minutes are turning into hours and I'm not sure how much longer I'll be awake.

He could be another hour, by which time I'll be tired and grouchy and in no mood to see anyone. He needs to hurry up, this is his last chance.

After a few minutes of simply sitting in pure silence, I succumb to my exhaustion and close my eyes. I figure it's be six years, he can wait just one more night.

My arms slightly ache where I've been resting on them, pain shooting down my biceps as I reach up to tie up my brunette locks into a tight ponytail.

Years of knots and painful brushing taught be to never go to sleep with my hair down, it's practically a cry for trouble.

I leap into bed, quickly flicking off each white sock, before scrunching down and pulling up my crisp duvet. My mind slowly relaxes as I fall into the darkness, finally feeling at peace with being alone.

What I didn't realise however, was I wasn't alone.

"Izzy?"

My name was uttered as quietly as a whisper. The voice was soft, almost melodious. I squeezed my eyes shut, in complete denial. When I heard it, I knew something fractured inside me, something I'd never be able to repair.

Somehow, even though I could barely even think, I gained the courage to sit up.

I let out a large breath, as I jumped onto the floor, the cold surface screaming at my feet.

A heartbreaking sob escaped my lips as I saw him.

"Caleb." I cried.

He stayed dead still, staring at me in complete shock.

"W-what," I rasped, gasping for air as I scrambled towards him in attempts to get a better look at his matured features.

The younger boy had grown older, resembling the memory I had of Ezra.

Warm tears pooled in his brown eyes, spilling out onto his rosy cheeks. His hair was a bed of snakes, dark locks sprawled over his head.

He looked exactly the same. He was still my Caleb.

"W-when did you get here." I choked out, however he stayed completely silent, not moving a muscle.
"Caleb!" I screamed, completely overwhelmed.

My heart was hammering against my rib cage as I felt the surprise rush though my veins, turning my body cold. Every part of me was alert, I was trembling so hard I felt like I would break.
