I tried to concentrate on what I was trying to say to Daniel, but the constant buzzing noise was making it fairly hard. Constant buzzing noise aka Daniels phone. As it buzzed for the last time, Daniel looked at me apologetically."Someone must be really trying to get ahold of you." I said keeping my tone light. Although I did find it kind of annoying.
Daniel looked at his phone for a couple of seconds before sighing and giving it to Kit who stood against the gazebo pillar."Yes uhm...my mother...somethings got her I tried to concentrate on what I was trying to say to Daniel, but the constant buzzing noise was making it fairly hard. "Yes uhm...my mother...somethings got her worked up. I'm sorry." Daniel apologized. Kit snorted and raised one eyebrow, eyeing the prince who glared at him.
"It's alright, don't feel sorry. Honestly I understand. My mother is also such a worr-," a buzzing noise came close to my ear. This time it wasn't Daniels phone. I felt something quickly crawl on my face and I screamed.
There are three things you should know about me.1) I love RomComs.
2) I mix red wine and beer together.
3) I hate bugs. Like really freaking hate them.
I quickly stood from my seat still screaming while trying to swat away the multiple legged demon spawn. I'm sure this wasn't one of my most memorable moments and I'm sure I look like a fool. But I'm not about to get stung or bitten by a demon creature!
I didn't even notice that I had scrambled so far from my seat that I ended up bumping into something , more like someone. I also didn't notice that after I had bumped into whoever, that we were now falling into the pond surrounding the gazebo. I reached ahold of what felt like cloth before falling into the cold water.
The cold water engulfed me like it was swallowing me whole. I hadn't realized how deep the pond was. It sent me into shock, I felt as though i couldn't move my body at all. Oh, I guess there is another thing you should know about me.
I cant swim.
Am I going to die?
Everything was silent. It was almost....peaceful. All that was around me was still for a bit until I felt a strong hold on my arm yank me upwards. I gasped after my head was out of the water. The strong hands that had pulled me out lifted me back onto the deck like I had weighed nothing. I just laid flat on my back in a daze feeling the warmth of the sun on my face.
"Have you gone mad?!" A deep Berethian accent yelled.
"Don't yell at her! That's rude!" Another deep Berethian voice scolded.
I quickly opened my eyes and they landed on a pair of gray ones that looked down at me. Water drops from Kits hair fell on my face.
I noticed the small beauty mark above his left eyebrow. I also noticed how thick his eyebrows were. I looked at the gray eyes that looked and watched me. I traced the out line of the small scar on his nose. I noticed how his top lip was a bit smaller than his bottom lip, and the tattoo peeking out a bit from his shirt.
"Mary? Are you alright?" Daniel asked.
I quickly sat up startling the two men. Crabapples! This is so embarrassing! How could I not only pull Kit into the pond with me, but start checking his every facial feature out afterwards?! What is wrong with me!
I hoped, dang near prayed to the lord that Kit hadn't noticed me taking literal mental notes of his face, but oh boy, he had. I could tell by the smirk on his face.
"Apologies. I'm so sorry, I completely ruined our lunch Prince Daniel." I looked up at the brown haired boy who held out his hand to me. I taking it, I stood up and tried to straighten out my dress. Though I don't know what difference it will make.
"It's alright. That's a pretty deep pond ain't it." Daniel laughed. I nodded agreeing. I'm glad he's trying to make light of the situation instead of making fun of me.
"Well we had better leave and you go back home as well. You might catch a cold."
"Yes your right. Uhm, thank you for lunch. Sorry again, and to Kit too for...pulling you...into the pond." I felt my ears and neck heat up from embarrassment. Kit just shrugged and looked away.
"Bye then, safe getting back." I turned on my heel and sped walked back home, which wasn't far considering we were just in the palace's back yard. I didn't pay any mind to the maids who looked at me weird as I basically sprinted to my room.
Once I was safely in, I slid down to the floor with my back pressed against the door. I was freaking flustered. I had made a fool of myself, not only in front of a prince...but his bodyguard as well! Who I just happened to find super attractive.
My room phone ringed breaking the silence. I got up and walked over to the pink phone that was placed on my night stand. "Hello?"
"Hello princess." A Berethian voice I was very familiar with spoke.
"Kit? How did you get this number?" I asked. Was he like some hacker or something?
" I had asked one of the maids tending to the gardens. You had left your cellphone and purse at the gazebo. Shall I have someone return it too you?"
"No! I mean...uhm..you should give it to me...instead." I closed my eyes. Was I really doing this? Think of something, think!
"If you're not busy that is. I'm sure you're busy it's just you never know, someone might take something so I'd feel more comfortable if you gave it to me your self." I said. I was lying straight through my teeth and it didn't feel good, but I guess a girls got to do what a girls gotta do. I was sure none of the palace workers would steal anything of mine but he didn't need to know that.
Silence took over the phone and I began to wonder if Kit was still on the phone. "Kit?"
"I'll meet you tomorrow after the Royal dinner. Eight p.m on the dot. There's a coffee shop called 'Tulips', we'll meet there."
"Yes, alright! But...why a coffee shop?" I asked. I have no clue why he wanted to meet in a public place. Just us no less.
"I have business there, so might as well. Unless you don't want to that is."
"No I do!," I mentally yelled at myself. I probably sounded desperate.
Kit softly chuckled and my cheeks turned red. Why does this guy not only have good looks, but a good laugh as well. The lord obviously has favorites.
"Alright princess. I'll see you than. Have a good day."
"Y-you as well."
Kit ended the call leaving me into this strange daze for the rest of the day.
